    • A method for processing a hydroxide sludge residue to separate and recover the nonferrous metal values therefrom including the steps of(1) concentrating the residue and acidifying and heating the concentrated residue to produce a solution containing the nonferrous metal values;(2) removing the copper from the solution by liquid-liquid extraction;(3) separating the chromium, aluminum, residual portions of iron, as well as the remaining calcium from the copper-free solution by high temperature pressure hydrolysis to obtain the metals as the hydrated oxides or basic sulfates;(4) removing zinc and nickel from the remaining solution by liquid-liquid extraction;(5) processing the individual nonferrous metal fractions to isolate and recover the metal values in a conventional manner.By using this process, the nonferrous metal values can be easily separated in a relatively high state of purity from the hydroxide sludge wastes.

    • This invention relates to a process for the treatment of the reaction mass produced during the joint elimination of barium-containing nitrite-/nitrate-bearing carburizing salt wastes and cyanide-/cyanate-bearing wastes by ignition of the dry mixture at elevated temperatures, comprising suspending the reaction mass in water and either (a) adding a water-soluble barium salt to the aqueous suspension in equimolar quantities, based upon carbonate ions, and separating precipitated barium carbonate, or (b) freeing the alkaline suspension from barium carbonate by filtration, reacting the filtrate with a water-soluble calcium salt, and separating precipitated calcium carbonate, concentrating the clear solutions obtained according to (a) or (b) to a water content of 10-20% by weight, separating precipitated sodium chloride, and evaporating the residual solution to dryness.

    • The invention relates to a process for preparing linear α-olefins, wherein ethylene 1a is conducted into the oligomerization reactor 2 in the liquid phase. The oligomerization reactor 2 has a mechanical stirrer 2a in order to ensure optimal mixing of the liquid ethylene and of the catalyst in the liquid phase. From the top of the oligomerization reactor 2, vaporized ethylene is drawn off together with light α-olefins and a small proportion of the organic solvent. The gas mixture drawn off from the top of the reactor 2 is condensed together with gaseous fresh ethylene 7 by means of heat exchanger 3 and separator 4. The liquid phase drawn off from the separator 4 is conducted by means of circulation pump 5a as liquid ethylene input 1a back into the oligomerization reactor 2. The liquid products of the oligomerization reaction are drawn off 8 laterally from the base of the reactor 2.
