摘要： In an optical waveguide device, a laser beam is collected to an end face of a channel waveguide, and introduced into a PLZT thin film optical waveguide. The incident laser beam, when emitted from the channel waveguide, diverges in the PLZT waveguide, permeates a thin film lens and is collimated into 0.4 Mm size. When a high frequency voltage is not applied to a comb Al electrode, the laser beam is collected after penetrating through the second thin film and emitted from the end face through the channel waveguide to form an emission beam. When the high frequency voltage is applied to the comb Al electrode, a diffraction grating is formed by an acousto-optic effect, and the laser beam is deflected. The deflected laser beam, when penetrating through the second thin film lens, is collected and emitted from the end face through the channel waveguide in adjacent with the above-described channel waveguide to form a deflected emission beam.

The light modulation device comprises a high polymeric liquid crystal film comprising a uniaxially orientated side chain type high polymeric liquid crystal containing a photochromic compound, and it modulates light in the wavelength region in which the photochromic compound has no absorption by making use of a change in refractive index anisotropy of the high polymeric liquid crystal film which has been caused by photoisomerization of the photochromic compound. The device is useful as a stable and high-density optical computing device or an erasable optical memory material.

In the print data processing apparatus, print data received from the external unit are sequentially analyzed and converted into intermediate data, and the converted intermediate data are stored in a first storage unit. Thereafter, an edit controller judges which band the intermediate data stored in the first storage unit belong to, and registers judged band information of the intermediate data in a band table of a further storage unit. The intermediate data are developed into dot image data every band referring to the band information registered in the band table, and the developed dot image data are stored in a second storage unit. Finally, the dot image data stored in the second storage unit are outputted to the printer in order to print the image thereof on a piece of printing paper.
