    • Camera system for viewing an object located in a region of contamination (e.g., oil, water, particulate matter, or the like). The system is capable of being internally pressurized above ambient pressure, so that the contamination is prevented from entering the camera system to foul the camera. The system includes a housing having an interior and a view port. An electronic sensor is disposed in the housing opposite the port for sensing the object and for generating an electrical output signal that travels along a conductor connected to the sensor. A processor is connected to the conductor for amplifying the output signal. The amplified signal is received by a display monitor which displays an image of the object. The system further includes a quick-disconnect connector which interconnects the housing to a source of pressurized fluid used to pressurize the housing above ambient pressure.

    • An inspection apparatus (40) for remote inspection of the trepan radius area (34) of the inlet sleeve (24) of a steam turbine (10). The apparatus (40) provides a sealed volume (50) between a pair of inflatable bladders (46,48) for the introduction of a liquid couplant for the immersion of ultrasonic transducers (42,44). A laser line generator (62) generates a beam of light visible through camera (60) which impinges upon the inlet bell seal (30) when the apparatus (40) is in a proper inspection position within the inlet sleeve (24). Guide vanes (56) provide centering and generate an insertion force during air assisted insertion of apparatus (40). Transducers (42,44) are indexed axially and circumfretially by the independent rotation of axial drive gear (72) and longitudinal drive gear (70) engaged with a pattern of gear teeth (69) formed as a combination of circumferential spur gear teeth and axial rack gear teeth cut into a single surface of a spline shaft (68).

    • A method for installing a header cap on a water header both positioned on a stator coil. The method includes the steps of creating a generally smooth surface on the water header for providing a mating surface on the water header. A seal is interposed between the mating surface of the water header and the header cap for providing a material used to provide a sealed boundary between the cap and mating surface. The header cap and the mating surface of the water header are placed in abutting relationship with the seal for forming a layered, contiguous connection. A pressure device is attached in operative association with the header cap for operatively applying a pressure to the header cap. A spring which is received by the pressure device is compressed for applying a constant and unidirectional pressure to the pressure device which, in turn, transmits the constant and unidirectional pressure to the header cap. The connection is finally heated for brazing the header cap and water header together and for forming a seal.
