摘要： A yellow dye-donor element for thermal dye transfer comprises a support having thereon a dye layer comprising a mixture of yellow dyes dispersed in a polymeric binder, at least one of the yellow dyes having the formula: ##STR1## wherein: R.sup.1 is a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group of from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms; a cycloalkyl group of from about 5 to about 7 carbon atoms; or a substituted or unsubstituted allyl group;R.sup.2 is any of the groups for R.sup.1 or represents the atoms which when taken together with Z form a 5- or 6-membered ring;Z is hydrogen; any of the groups for R.sup.1 ; alkoxy; halogen; aryloxy; or represents the atoms which when taken together with R.sup.2 forms a 5- or 6-membered ring;Y is any of the groups for R.sup.1 ; alkoxy of from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms; halogen; or represents the atoms necessary to complete a 5- or 6-membered ring, thus forming a fused ring system; andn is a positive integer from 1 to 3; and at least one of the other of the dyes having the formula: ##STR2## wherein: R.sup.6 represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group of from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms; a cycloalkyl group of from about 5 to about 7 carbon atoms; a substituted or unsubstituted allyl group; or an aryl group having from about 6 to about 10 carbon atoms;R.sup.7 represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkoxy group having from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms; a substituted or unsubstituted aryloxy group having from about 6 to about 10 carbon atoms; NHR.sup.8 ; NR.sup.8 R.sup.9 or the atoms necessary to complete a 6-membered ring fused to the benzene ring;R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 each represents any of the groups for R.sup.6 ; or R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 can be joined together to form, along with the nitrogen to which they are attached, a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring; or either or both of R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 can be joined to the carbon atom of the benzene ring at a position ortho to the position of attachment of the anilino nitrogen to form a 5- or 6-membered ring, thus forming a polycyclic system;R.sup.5 represents hydrogen; a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group of from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms; a cycloalkyl group of from about 5 to about 7 carbon atoms; a substituted or unsubstituted allyl group; carbamoyl; or alkoxycarbonyl;R.sup.8 and R.sup.9 each independently represents any of the groups for R.sup.6 ; or R.sup.8 and R.sup.9 may be joined together to form, along with the nitrogen to which they are attached, a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring;m is a positive integer from 1 to 3; andG represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or alkoxy group of from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms; halogen; aryloxy; or represents the atoms necessary to complete a 5- or 6-membered ring, thus forming a fused ring system.In a preferred embodiment of the invention, a third yellow dye is employed having the formula: ##STR3## wherein: R.sup.10 represents OR.sup.13 or NHR.sup.13 ;R.sup.11 represents any of the groups for R.sup.4 ;R.sup.12 represents any of the groups for R.sup.4 ;R.sup.13 represents any of the groups for R.sup.6 ;J represents any of the groups for G; andp is a positive integer from 1 to 3.

摘要： Photographic elements, diffusion transfer assemblages and processes are described which employ a novel nondiffusible compound having a releasable 2-(2-heterocyclylazo)-1-naphthol dye moiety which contains a nitrogen atom adjacent to the point of attachment to the azo linkage. The compound contains a ballasted carrier moiety which is capable of releasing the diffusible azo dye under alkaline conditions. The dye is transferred imagewise to an image-receiving layer where it is contacted with metal ions to form a metal-complexed azo dye transfer image of excellent stability.

The compound has the formula: ##STR1## wherein: G is a metal chelating group (or a salt or hydrolyzable precursor thereof) or a group which together with a ##STR2## is CAR (bonded through the oxygen); G.sup.1 is a hydroxy group (or a salt or hydrolyzable precursor thereof);Z is an electron withdrawing group;Z' is alkyl, aryl or N(R).sub.2 (R being H, alkyl or aryl);CAR is a ballasted carrier moiety; andt is 0 or 1.The dye can be transferred imagewise to an image-receiving layer where it can be contacted with metal ions to form a metal-complexed azo dye transfer image of excellent stability. The retained dye image in the photographic element can also be bleached, fixed and metallized to form a color transparency or a motion picture film.
