    • A face seal assembly (10) having an intermediate seal ring (38) is disclosed. The intermediate seal ring (38) is disposed between a pair of opposing metal seal faces (36,37) of the seal assembly (10) so that the faces (36,37) contact opposite sealing faces (39,40) on the ring (38), instead of each other. Means (44) are provided for rotating the intermediate seal ring (38) at a speed which is proportionately less than the rotational speed between the opposing seal faces (36,37). This rotation of the intermediate ring (38) reduces the velocities of the contacting seal faces. The face seal assembly (10) is thus capable of use in higher speed applications without incurring scoring of the seal faces.

    • A document processing method includes receiving, at a server with a network interface, electronic documents from a user. The server includes a software application adapted to recognize a class of electronic documents to which the electronic documents belong. The method also includes processing the electronic documents received from the user to extract data therefrom based on a recognition that the electronic documents belong to the class of electronic documents. The extracted data corresponds to a service being provided to the user. The method also includes automatically mapping the extracted data from the processed electronic documents to a data repository on the server. The data repository is accessible by the user through the network interface. The method also includes electronically generating output data based on the mapped data from the data repository to the user. The output data corresponds to the service being provided to the user.

    • A device management system and method for tracking bypass of a print governance policy. A print control agent application can be configured with a set of predefined print governance policies in order to manage a rendering job activity. The print control agent application can pass, confirm and/or reject the rendering job based on the print governance policies. The rendering job activity that bypasses the print governance policies based on a policy violation approach can be tracked and measured utilizing a set of tracking algorithms in order to generate a tracked data. A bypass report can be visually generated based on the tracked data in order to analyze the policy violation and its frequency of occurrence thereby improving compliance with the rendering policies.

    • A method, apparatus, and hardcopy document are provided. The method provides for separating and categorizing documents and includes receiving a scanned batch of documents. The batch includes a plurality of scanned documents to which document separator stamps have been applied before scanning. Each document separator stamp includes first and second machine recognizable patterns applied on a same page of a document, the first and second patterns being spaced by a designated field for receiving a user-applied category code. The scanned batch of documents is processed to identify pages that contain a document separator, the processing including identifying at least one of the first and second spaced patterns. For each of a plurality of document pages for which a document separator is identified, the method includes locating the corresponding designated field and identifying the category code associated with the designated field. The document containing the identified separator is separated from other documents in the batch based on at least the identified separator and a document category is assigned to the document from a set of document categories, based on the identified category code.

In one embodiment, the communication system includes a policy/user database that stores policies across an enterprise related to the user and the communication device for access to the applications within the enterprise. The communication system also includes a security server that authenticates access of the communication device to the applications based on the policies. The communication system also includes a control server that approves and controls access of the communication device to the applications based on authentication from the security server. The communication system still further includes an audit/traceability server that provides a record of transactions for the access by the communication device to the applications and provides an alert in real time when approval is denied.
