摘要： A fibrous insulation batt is encapsulated within an envelope to form an encapsulated insulation batt assembly. The envelope has pressure sensitive adhesive on lateral flanges or surfaces of the envelope for securing the encapsulated insulation batt assembly to spaced-apart frame members defining a cavity to be insulated. Release liners, on surfaces of the envelope or the lateral flanges, which overlay and are releasably secured to the pressure sensitive adhesive, are removed from the pressure sensitive adhesive immediately prior to bonding the encapsulated insulation batt assembly to the spaced-apart frame members. Preferably, the release liners for the pressure sensitive adhesive are contact areas on the surfaces of the envelope or the lateral flanges coated or otherwise treated with a release agent.

A method for insulating a structure may include providing a frame that comprises a plurality of frame members coupled together. Sheathing panels may be coupled to the frame members such that adjacent sheathing panels abut and directly contact each other at an interface to form a wall having a front surface and a rear surface. A spray insulation material may be applied to the front surface of the wall such that the insulation material forms a substantially continuous insulation layer atop the front surface and such that the insulation material directly contacts the interface between adjacent sheathing panels to restrict passage of air between the adjacent panels to at or below 0.2 L/m2/s at a differential pressure across the wall of 75 Pa.

One or more of the sections may include a cavity or hollow space. The insulated component may also include a first layer of insulation within one or more of the cavities. The first layer of insulation may include a pour insulation material that transitions from a liquid state or phase to a solid state or phase.

The supplemental physical property or properties of the underlayment may include, but are not limited to, latent storage of thermal energy, sound transmission reduction, and/or burn through resistance.

摘要： A faced fibrous insulation assembly includes: a fibrous insulation blanket whose fibers, preferably, are bonded together with a formaldehyde free binder; a facing formed by a kraft paper sheet material; and an asphalt coating layer on the inner surface of the facing that bonds the facing to the fibrous insulation blanket. The asphalt coating layer contains an odor-reducing additive in an amount sufficient to substantially eliminate odor that would otherwise be emitted by the asphalt coating layer without adversely affecting the adherent qualities of the asphalt coating layer. Preferably, the facing and the asphalt coating layer are fungi growth resistant.

摘要： A faced building insulation assembly includes a first facing forming a first major surface of the assembly with a central field portion having one or more spunbond continuous polymeric filament mat layers. Preferably, the facing is fungi growth resistant and has a selected water vapor permeance rating as applied to an insulation layer of the assembly. The facing may also include one or more polymeric film layers, a fungi growth inhibiting agent, a pesticide, and/or a heat activated bonding agent that bonds the facing to the insulation layer of the assembly. The insulation assembly may also include a second facing forming a second major surface of the assembly that has a water vapor permeance rating equal to or differing from the first facing.
