摘要： Methods for identifying antineoplastic agents by using their ability to modify expression of specific genes or the biological activity of polypeptides encoded by such genes, wherein said genes are located in specific chromosomal regions, called amplicons, or regions of interest, and the presence of such amplified regions within a cancerous cell, are disclosed. Also described are methods for diagnosing cancerous, or potentially cancerous, conditions using these methods. Also encompassed are methods involving determining the modulated expression of the genes in these regions of interest (ROIs), or amplicons, as pharmacodynamic/pharmacogenetic/surrogate markers and/or for patient profiling prior to accrual for clinical trials/treatments based on the identification of these genes as validated gene/drug targets in various cancer tissue types.

Receptors that specifically bind to PR-5 proteins having a lectin-like β barrel domain have been found to be homologous to mammalian adiponectin receptors, and such PR-5 proteins can act as functional homologues of adiponectin and control adiponectin response in mammals. PR-5 proteins having a lectin-like β barrel domain, for example osmotin, can be used in the treatment of conditions in mammals which are the result of activation or inhibition of adiponectin receptor-mediated metaboloic pathways. 摘要： A method is described for stereoselectively reducing an unsaturated alkyl ketone substituent attached to a fused ring base. In this method, the unsaturated alkyl ketone reacts with a chiral oxazaborolidine reagent. This reaction stereoselectively reduces the unsaturated alkyl ketone to an unsaturated alkyl alcohol. The unsaturated alkyl alcohol can be further reduced, if desired, to produce a saturated alkyl alcohol. The fused ring base can be, for example, a steroid ring base or a base of a vitamin D analog. The process in accordance with the invention can be used with an alkeneone substituent (e.g., a 22-ene-24-one substituent) or an alkyneone substituent (e.g., a 22-yne-24-one substituent) on a steroid ring base to make squalamine or other useful aminosterol compounds and intermediates for making aminosterol compounds.

摘要： The present invention provides a laptop computer support having a generally planar support base with shoulder straps attached to a leading edge of the support base and back straps attached to a trailing edge of the support base. The shoulder and back straps converge at a strap junction overlaying the user's back when the computer support is in use. The laptop computer support affords virtually unrestricted access to at least three sides of the laptop computer base wherein hardware/software ports are conventionally located, and the shoulder and back straps are advantageously configured so as to distribute the weight of a laptop computer evenly across the user's shoulders and back. The laptop computer is variably fixed to the support base with a hook and loop type fastener.

A processing circuitry in the fault monitoring system localizes and identifies faults in the substation and includes a sound source localization module to identify an area of a sound source based on the acoustic pressure waves. A beamforming module of processing circuitry provides enhanced acoustic pressure waves by eliminating background noise and interfering noise from the acoustic pressure waves and a component signature classification module in the processing circuitry compares enhanced acoustic pressure waves with component signatures to classify the acoustic pressure waves into various events to detect faults in the electrical substation.
