    • A film cartridge comprises a housing with a film exit slit, and a film roll support rotatable inside the housing to unwind a filmstrip beginning with a film leader to permit the film leader to be moved outwardly through the slit to accomplish film loading in a camera. According to one feature of the invention a protective strip is provided with a length and a width dimensioned to permit the protective strip to completely cover a non-emulsion side of successive frames of the filmstrip when individual ones of the frames are positioned outside the housing for exposure in a camera. The protective strip has a forward end portion releaseably secured to the film leader and a trailing end portion permanently secured to the housing to make the film leader first pull the protective strip onto the non-emulsion side of the filmstrip as the film leader is moved outwardly through the slit and then disconnect from the protective strip as the film leader is moved further from the housing, in order that the protective strip will remain on the non-emulsion side of the filmstrip to shield the non-emulsion side of individual ones of the frames when individual ones of the frames are positioned outside the housing for exposure in a camera. According to another feature of the invention the film cartridge includes a visible film-loaded indicator located on the housing to be seen through a window in a camera, and the protective strip is originally covering the film-loaded indicator but is pulled off the film-loaded indicator when it is pulled onto the non-emulsion side of the filmstrip as the film leader is moved outwardly through the slit.

    • A manually-operated tray assembly for facilitating the handling of transparencies on an overhead projector. The tray assembly comprises a dispensing tray for holding a stack of transparencies prior to projection, and a receiving tray for accepting the transparencies following projection. The transparencies are slid one-at-a-time from the dispensing tray to the platen of the projector, and following projection, from the platen to the receiving tray by a stroke of the user's hand. The `used` transparencies accumulate in the receiving tray in a neat orderly stack. The dispensing tray is preferably arranged at a sloping angle relative to the platen of the projector so that only one transparency at a time is transferred to the platen. The receiving tray is also preferably arranged at a sloping angle relative to the platen to facilitate the transfer of transparencies from the platen to the receiving tray. The dispensing tray and the receiving tray are preferably located on the same side of the projector and are held in suitable positions relative to the projector to accommodate the transfer of transparencies to and from the platen. The user retains complete control over the transparency while it is located on the platen of the projector and may move it about on the platen as desired.

    • The picture changer comprises a housing with a window and a slider member, on the actuation of which a pile of pictures housed in the changer is cyclically rearranged. To simplify construction and give the change-over movement any easy action, the process of separating the individual picture, which takes place under strong spring bias, is restricted to a short partial travel. As the change-over movement continues, the individual sheet is stiffened in the conveying direction so that it holds the remainder of the pile at a distance from the separating gap and itself is held by stop members. The change-over function can be interrupted by displacing the separating gap.
