摘要： The present invention provides an image forming device comprising a first roller mechanism for sending out printing paper from a paper feed tray accommodating the printing paper therein, a second roller mechanism for transporting the printing paper to a printing start position where formation of an image on the paper is started, and a power supply mechanism for giving power to the first roller mechanism and the second roller mechanism. The device transports the printing paper at a first transport speed from an accommodated position inside the feed tray to a first position where the paper is transportable by the second roller mechanism, by driving the first roller mechanism, discontinues the driving of the first roller mechanism by the power supply mechanism upon the printing paper reaching the first position, transports the printing paper from the first position to a second position where the paper is taken out of the feed tray at a second transport speed lower than the first transport speed by driving the second roller mechanism, and transports the printing paper from the second position to the printing start position at a third transport speed higher than the second transport speed by driving the second roller mechanism.

摘要： A forward/backward printing thermal printer which brings a printing paper onto a printing member and performs a printing action in order to form an image. The printer comprises a thermal head which transfers the image onto the paper according to an image signal, a platen roller which moves the paper back and forth when it rotates, and a pair of which press the paper on the platen roller and cause it to move back and forth with the roller. When the paper moves and is no longer held on one side by a, the paper pressing means on the side where the paper has been released is moved on the outer circumference of the platen roller by a fan-shaped gear rotated by a drive gear so as to again grip the edge of the paper which is carried to the position of the other. In this way, the effective printing range on the paper is enlarged without any error in the paper's position or color due to the transport mechanism. The printer can also be made compact.

摘要： A compact ink jet printer is described utilizing a small drum for carrying a sheet of record medium during the printing operation. In one embodiment, the drum has an exterior surface with a high coefficient of friction with a contact roller retaining the record medium against the drum as the drum is rotated. Printing is accomplished as by jetting ink from an ink jet print head onto the medium while the medium is backed up by a fixed platen. A fusing mechanism may be utilized to flatten ink drops on the printed medium. A drive mechanism for an ink jet printer may include a stepper motor coupled by timing belt sprockets and a timing belt to the drum of the printer. These components may be selected such that the drum is incremented a multiple of a pixel height during each step of the stepper motor. The record medium may also be clamped to a drum by a clamping mechanism and rotated through plural revolutions of the drum during respective printing and fusing steps.

摘要： A lever for moving a shaft which, in turn, moves pressure rollers away from the platen, against which the paper is held by the pressure rollers, is movable between first and second positions. The lever is urged, as by a spring, toward the first position which corresponds to the paper engaging position of the rollers. When moved to the second position, the lever is engaged by releasable holding means which is resiliently urged toward the lever but is retracted by electromagnetic means. The latter is energized by current supplied through two switches in series, one of which is closed when the lever is moved to the second position, and the other of which is closed when the carriage of the teletypewriter or the typewriter is returned. The switch closed by the lever, when open, with the lever in the first position, prevents the electromagnetic means from being energized each time the carriage returns, after the lever has been released through the electromagnetic means and is moved by the spring back to the first position.
