摘要： A footrest-table convertible article of furniture includes a pair of vertical supports, at least one brace rigidly interconnecting the vertical supports, a rotatable element disposed between the vertical supports, and a pivot connection supporting the rotatable element on the vertical supports for rotation about a horizontal axis. The rotatable element has two opposed major surfaces, one being a flat unupholstered table top, and another being a cushioned footrest. The rotatable element can be flipped 180.degree. between a position in which the table top is uppermost and horizontal, and a position in which the cushioned footrest is uppermost and horizontal. A locking mechanism secures the rotatable element in either of the positions, at a consistent height above the ground.

The article of furniture comprises a support member, a work surface, and a handle coupled to the work surface for changing the configuration of the article. The work surface includes a pair of panels that are attached to each other by a hinge, the handle being attached to the panels at the hinge. The handle includes a locking portion for engaging the support member to lock the work surface to the support member in the table configuration. The article is convertible to the easel configuration by rotating the handle to unlock the work surface from the support member and lifting both panels to the easel configuration. A lever lock is coupled to the support member for locking the panels in the easel configuration. The article is convertible to the easel configuration by depressing the lever lock to release the panels, which are then spread apart and lowered onto the support member. The panel is positioned on the support member and the handle is rotated to the locked position

摘要： A multipurpose ottoman is described, consisting of a base unit having two supporting walls which rest on an underlying surface, and a top unit including a tabletop configured to receive a cushion or other items such as tableware, games or the like. The tabletop has two supporting walls which are designed to fit within the walls of the base unit and two support flaps connected by hinges to the tabletop. The support flaps are approximately parallel to the outside surfaces of the tabletop walls and are shorter in height than these walls. When it is desired that the assembly function as an ottoman, the supporting walls of the tabletop are lowered within the supporting walls of the base unit, and the support flaps are moved slightly to fit over a portion of the outer surfaces of the base unit's walls so that the tabletop rests on the unit. When a table is desired, the top unit is lifted upwards, the support flaps are pushed slightly inward to rest on the top surfaces of the base unit's supporting walls and against the supporting walls of the tabletop, securely holding the top unit in place. Optional features include a footstool and a slideable drawer.
