    • According to one embodiment, an information processing apparatus includes an internal receiving unit which is connected to an antenna terminal, a communicating unit which executes communication with an external receiver, a first determining unit which determines whether or not an antenna is connected to the antenna terminal, a second determining unit which determines whether or not communication between the external receiver and the communicating unit is executable, a detector which detects a route capable of receiving a broadcast data from a determination results of the first and second determining unit, a selection unit which selects one of the internal receiver and the external receiver corresponding to a detection result of the detecting unit, a reproduction unit which reproduces broadcast data, and an interrupting unit which, unless the detecting unit detects a route capable of receiving the broadcast data, interrupts supply of power to the internal receiver and the communicating unit.

    • A signal receiver where the presence of a signal is determined by integrating the magnitude of the signal, and determining the value of the slope of the integrator output as a function of integration time. The slope value is compared with a first threshold value corresponding to the presence of a signal of desired power at the input to the integrator. A signal may be considered present if the slope value exceeds the first voltage value. In addition, the integrated signal is compared with a second threshold value, and a second determination of the presence of a signal is made. The first determination may be used as the sole indicator of the presence of a signal, or the first and second determinations may be combined in an AND gate to be used as an indication of signal presence.

    • A preset recording method through service linking according to movement from a first broadcasting area to a second broadcasting area in a terrestrial DMB terminal is provided. A preset recording for a predetermined broadcast program is checked to see if a current time is equal to a recording start time based on the specified preset recording; if so, extracting service linking information for the predetermined broadcast program; displaying that the DMB terminal has moved from the first broadcasting service area for the preset recording when the extracted service linking information corresponds to hard linking information, and recording a broadcasting program according to the hard linking information; and if they correspond, displaying that the DMB terminal has moved from the first broadcasting service area for the preset recording, and providing a list of broadcasting programs according to the soft linking information to enable a user to reset a preset recording function.

    • The invention generally pertains to enhancing a sensory perception of media. More particularly, the invention pertains to creating a composition having at least one frequency in the ultrasonic or infrasonic range. By way of example, the composition is inaudible in its preferred embodiment, but audible components are contemplated. One aspect of the invention relates to selecting a root frequency and then, via a mathematical operation or algorithm, calculating a single component frequency or a plurality of frequencies that lie in the infrasonic or ultrasonic range. Typically, infrasonic and ultrasonic frequencies lie outside the range of hearing for the average human being. The ultrasonic or infrasonic component frequency is not heard, yet its presence and its tonal characteristics may enhance a perception of the sensory content of a media conveyed through a media device. Another aspect of the invention relates to encoding media with a composition having one or more calculated component frequencies such that, at least one of the component frequencies is less than 20 Hz or greater than 20 kHz.
