    • A ceiling of filter panels is supported by support rods that extend through corner intersection of adjacent panels, and by a supporting disk secured to the lower end of the rods to support the corners of the filter panels. The disk has a notch in it that mates with the filter corner so that with the disk rotated to a position wherein the notch is aligned with the panel corner, a panel may be installed or removed from the assembly. Once a panel is in position, the disk is rotated about 45.degree. to a position wherein it supports a portion of the corner of each filter panel at that intersection. Retracted pins in the support disk are then threaded further into the disk so that the pins extend into an aligned hole in the corner of each panel at that intersection to align the panels. Sealing strips carrying sealing gel are then positioned around the periphery of the panels to span the gap between adjacent panels, with the strips being supported by the edges of the panels. Also, a sealing cap, together with sealing gel, extends over the support disks and the ends of the sealing strips to provide a suitable air seal at the intersection. Also disclosed is a vertical filter wall of panels spaced and supported in a manner similar to the horizontal filter.

    • A device for collecting fluid accumulating above a suspended ceiling. The invention comprising a receptacle for collecting the fluid, a hose for redirecting the fluid and a connection means to couple the receptacle and hose and to operative engagement with one another. The receptacle is formed from a contiguous wall forming an interior well portion and terminating in a drain. The upper portion of the receptacle is bounded by a rim. A flange portion is associated with at least two opposing sides of the receptacle. The receptacle is installed on the grid structure of a suspended ceiling by first removing a removable ceiling tile from the grid structure and placing the inventive receptacle into operative engagement with the grid structure. The flange rests on the platform of the grid structure provided for support of the ceiling tiles. An optional safety member can be attached to the rim of the receptacle and engage the grid structure to prevent the inadvertent withdrawal of the receptacle from its installed position. In use, fluid entering the receptacle is allowed to travel along the inwardly and downwardly directed contours of the walls forming the interior of the well allowing the fluid to exit the receptacle via the drain. A fluid conduit connected to the drain redirects the fluid in a fashion selected by the user.

    • A method of fabricating a clean room filter bank under essentially "clean" conditions is disclosed, and wherein the filter bank includes a supporting latticework composed of a plurality of interconnected channel members which define rectangular open areas, and a plurality of high efficiency air filters positioned on the supporting latticework. The channel members of the latticework include a self-healing gel sealant, and they are fabricated under clean room conditions and then packaged in a protective wrapping for storage or shipment. At the installation site, the channel members are assembled to form the latticework while the protective wrappings remain essentially in place, and the wrappings are removed only just prior to the assembly of the filters in the latticework. Thus the sealant of the channel members is protected from contamination, during manufacturing, shipment and storage, and also during the actual assembly of the filter bank.

    • A suspended ceiling system for a clean room employing short cross runners connected to longer main runners. The connections serve to coax the cross runners against the main runners to keep the system intact and air tight. The grid of cross and main runners creates rectangular areas between them into which ledges extend from both runners. For a dry seal, a sealing gasket adheres to the ledges' upper surface. Ceiling components such as lights, filters, and tiles sit upon the gasket to provide the seal. For a wet seal, a trough sits upon the ledge and circumscribes each rectangular area. The trough contains a liquid material into which a knife edge depending from the ceiling fixtures sits. A continuous threaded slot runs along the center of the members' bottoms. This allows the attachment of accessories such as removable walls. The runners have a generally U-shaped cross section that gives it sufficient strength to bear the live weight of a person. Between the upright arms, the member have sufficient space to hold a room sprinkler and electrical conduit and piping.

    • The invention relates to a suspended ceiling structure for rectangular filter elements (12,13), comprising a framework with outer (1) and inner (2) U-shaped channels which slidingly fit together and are suspended on tie rods (9) in an upper ceiling. The channels are intended to support skirts (14,15) arranged along the edges of the filter elements, said skirts being received in a sealing fluid (16) which forms an airtight seal for the air which is under the filter elements and is intended to flow through the same. The U-shaped channels are provided with grooves (3,4) at their web portions, the grooves being turned outwards and intended to form attachments for the ceiling tie rods and for elements (24) to be suspended from the framework. The ends (5,6) of each outer channel (1) are bent inwards to retain the inner channel (2) between the shanks and to prevent its withdrawal in a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction of the channels.

    • A modular ceiling panel unit adapted for use with conventional air distribution mechanisms in suspended ceiling grid systems utilizing inverted-T runners suspended from upper support structures is disclosed. The panel unit has a body portion having a rectangular configuration with opposite parallel panel faces and four edges. The air distribution strips comprise means along the inner leg of the H-shape engaging the panel body portion edge and means at the outer leg of the H-shape supportively associated with an arm of an inverted-T runner. The cross-web of the H-shaped air distribution strip is adapted to supportively associate with a mounting portion of a conventional air distribution mechanism positioned in the plenum between the ceiling grid system and upper support structure.
