摘要： A process for recovering zinc from a zinc containing material, the process including the steps of: leaching the zinc containing material with an alkaline lixiviant comprising an aqueous mixture of NH3 and NH4Cl, or ionic equivalent, having a NH4Cl concentration of between about 10 g/L and about 150 g/L H2O and a NH3 concentration of between 20 g/l H2O and 250 g/L H2O, to produce a zinc containing leachate; stripping ammonia from the leachate to produce a stripped liquor which includes a zinc containing precipitate, the stripped liquor having a NH3 concentration of between 7 and 30 g/L H2O; and recovering the zinc from the stripped liquor.

摘要： The disclosed processes can be effective for treating various materials comprising several different metals. These materials can be leached with HCl for obtaining a leachate and a solid. Then, they can be separated from one another and a first metal can be isolated from the leachate. Then, a second metal can further be isolated from the leachate. The first and second metals can each be substantially selectively isolated from the leachate. This can be done by controlling the temperature of the leachate, adjusting pH, further reacting the leachate with HCl, etc. The metals that can be recovered in the form of metal chlorides can eventually be converted into the corresponding metal oxides, thereby allowing for recovering HCl. The various metals can be chosen from aluminum, iron, zinc, copper, gold, silver, molybdenum, cobalt, magnesium, lithium, manganese, nickel, palladium, platinum, thorium, phosphorus, uranium, titanium, rare earth element and rare metals.

摘要： The present invention provides an extraction solvent for extracting metallic elements that is characterized in that: the total concentration of chlorine (Cl2) and hypochlorous acid (HOCl) is from 20 to 1000 ppm; chlorine (Cl2) and hypochlorous acid (HOCl) are included at a molar ratio of 1:1 to 1:11; the oxidation-reduction potential is from 1100 to 1400 mV; and the pH is from 1.7 to 3.7. The present invention also provides a method for producing said extraction solvent, and a method for recovering metallic elements by using said extraction solvent.

摘要： A method of producing enhanced coal combustion ash for use in pozzolanic applications or cement manufacture, in which the enhanced combustion ash has lower mercury content. A slurry is formed of the combustion ash and water and is subjected to froth flotation to form a mercury-enriched ash slurry and a mercury-depleted ash slurry. The product mercury-depleted ash slurry is isolated and may optionally be dried. The combustion ash may be pulverized prior to being used to form the slurry, reducing its mean particle size. The mercury-depleted combustion ash product has reduced levels of mercury and ammonia, and reduced particle size.

In the method, a carbonaceous reducing agent is added to a zinc-containing waste material produced in the stainless steel producing process, the resultant mixture is agglomerated by a briquette press to form agglomerates incorporated with a carbonaceous material, the agglomerates incorporated with the carbonaceous material are heated in a rotary hearth furnace to reduce and evaporate zinc to form dezincified agglomerates, and then the dezincified agglomerates are charged as a coolant in an oxidation period of the refining furnace.

摘要： Disclosed is a free flowing dry back-up material which comprises: from 67 to 96% by weight of fly-ash; from 2 to 15% by weight of a heat sensitive binder such as boric acid; from 2 to 7% by weight of a non-wetting agent such as calcium fluoride; from 0 to 10% by weight of a heat expandable material, viz. a material expandable as a function of the temperature such as vermiculite or graphite; and from 0 to 1% by weight of a dust suppressant such as kerosene. This material which is useful in particular in the aluminum industry has the advantages of being water free and free flowing, such avoiding the use of vibrator to position it into a shell. It also has a low density and a low thermal conductivity. Moreover, it is organic free as compared to the existing materials which use an organic binder to ensure a low temperature set; and it sets at a temperature lower than 400° F.
