    • A plastic bag comprises opposing body panels fixedly connected to each other along a pair of sides and a bottom bridging the pair of sides. A reclosable zipper extending along a mouth portion formed opposite the sealed bottom of the plastic bag. The zipper is preferably free of graspable upper pull flanges in order to best accommodate a slider and inhibit operation of the zipper without the slider. The slider is mounted to the zipper for movement between a closed position and an open position. The zipper is closed while the slider is in the closed position. The zipper is opened in response to movement of the slider to the open position. To inhibit tampering with the contents of the bag, the bag includes a tamper-evident feature. In one set of embodiments, the tamper-evident feature initially maintains the slider in the closed position and allows the slider to move away from the closed position toward the open position in response to removing or breaking the tamper-evident feature. In another set of embodiments, the tamper-evident feature initially maintains a mouth portion of the plastic bag in a folded position and allows the mouth portion to be unfolded in response to removing or breaking the tamper-evident feature.

    • An object of the present invention is to provide a linear slide fastener capable of maintaining a stabilized condition in which an attachment yarn for attaching a fastener element is never out out by abrasion due to a contact with other object or sliding of a slider. A coil-like or zigzag-like linear fastener element row is attached to a fastener tape with a multi-filament attachment yarn or a sewing yarn of double lock sewing system. Then, synthetic resin material having adhesive property is applied to an entangled portion between a looper yarn disposed on the linear fastener element row and a needle yarn so as to permeate the entangled portion and harden. Consequently, the attachment yarn is coated and fixed with the synthetic resin material, As the attachment yarn, a weaving yarn or a warp knitting yarn is used. The synthetic resin material is applied to the entangled portion or an intersecting portion so as to permeate them. As a result, a strong, abrasion resistant yarn can be formed and the yarns are bonded with each other so as to achieve a stabilized condition which provides an excellent performance for guiding a slider.

    • An abrasion resistant slide fastener includes a coupling element attached to a support tape by stitching looper and needle threads to secure the coupling element and a filler cord, extending through the coupling element, to a support tape. The looper thread has an upper portion which engages an upper shank of the coupling element and a lower portion which engages the needle thread within the filler cord. The needle thread is stitched at a greater tension than the looper thread and secures the looper thread, the coupling element and the filler cord to the support tape. The upper portion of the looper thread, engaging the upper shank, is heated until it melts from the upper shank of the coupling element, thus eliminating the looper thread exposed to wear and forming anchor portions which engage the filler cord. The needle thread and the lower portion of the looper thread are not directly exposed to the heat source and remain substantially intact within the filler cord. The anchor portions are drawn toward the interior of the filler cord due to the greater tensioning of the needle thread, which secures the coupling element to the support tape and produces an abrasion resistant slide fastener.

    • Continuous method of manufacturing coil type slide fasteners by forming synthetic monofilaments into a pair of uncured fastener element coils. The fastener coils are then intermeshed in coupled relation and sewn onto the adjacent edges of a pair of uncured knit tapes. The coil, sewing thread and knit tapes are each composed of the same thermosetting resin. The fastener chain is advanced at uniform tension and velocity through a pressing stage and viscous dye bath containing a dispersion type thermosoling dye. The advancing chain is then vacuumed to provide uniform deposition of the dye on the tape and coil. The chain is then dried and led through a heating zone maintained at a temperature which simultaneously fixes the dyestuffs and cures or thermosets the coil and knit tapes. Thereafter, the moving chain is washed and calendered while being maintained under tension. The continuous zipper chain is then cut to length and supplied with a slider and end stops.
