    • A beverage container 10 suitable for liquids includes a vessel 12 which defines a filling orifice proximate a first end thereof. A drinking straw 14 is integral with, and external of, the vessel 12 so that the straw 14 and the vessel 12 form a one-piece article, the straw 14 communicating with the interior of the vessel 12 proximate ends thereof remote from the filling orifice. A free end of the straw 14 is sealed by a rupturable membrane. A closure element 40 sealingly closes the filling orifice of the vessel 12. The closure element 40 includes a tamper indicating means. A closure cap 56 is formed integrally, as a one-piece article, with the tamper indicating means of the closure element 40. The closure cap 56 is mountable on said free end of the straw 14, after rupturing of the membrane, to close off said free end of the straw 14.

    • A tamper indicating container and container-closure package in which the tamper indicating band is integrally molded on the container neck with connecting frangible webs. The tamper indicating band has circumferentially spaced pawls on its top which co-act with a circumferential array of ratchet teeth at the lower end of the closure cap skirt to prevent removal of the cap upon application of opening torque without fracture of the frangible webs indicating tampering or initial opening. The closure of the container-closure package includes a cap skirt having a wall portion which recesses the cap ratchet teeth and overlaps the tamper indicating band of the container so as to keep the ratchet locking mechanism out of the view of a person endeavoring to tamper with the package.

    • A closure or cap for containers, bottles and jars having a circumferential groove formed by opposed conical surfaces of substantially equal size in the relaxed condition and upon compression of the closure forming a substantially toroidal circumferential groove. On a container sealed with the closure compressed, expansion of the circumferential groove to the relaxed condition indicates failure of the seal or generation of gases within the container. In an alternate embodiment the circumferential conical surfaces form a V-shaped circumferential protrusion in the relaxed condition and a toroidal protrusion in the compressed condition. In another embodiment the circumferential juncture between the conical surfaces and the closure sidewall is modified to reduce the flexure between the compressed and expanded conditions thereby permitting a wider variety of materials to be used for the closures. In a further modification the opposed conical surfaces are unequal in size and slope to the axis of the container to provide a partial latching action wherein a specified pressure differential is required to prevent unlatching of the opposed conical surfaces. In further embodiments single conical surfaces are adapted to specialized closure shapes and depending double conical surfaces to closures for carbonated beverages.

    • A neck structure for a bottle-shaped container formed of synthetic resin, and associated with a rolled cap member having a top-closed cylindrical shape and constructed of thin aluminum plate at a cylindrical neck portion of the bottle-shaped container. The connecting portion is formed with a plurality of longitudinal strips on the outer periphery thereof and recesses between the longitudinal strips. The neck structure of the synthetic resin bottle-shaped container is constructed to be adapted to be associated with a tamper-proof-cap such that the lower end of the tamper-proof-cap is relatively increased in height.

    • A tamper-proof closure is disclosed for use with a bottle having a neck, a lip with a downwardly and inwardly sloping peripheral wall and a plurality of outwardly extending ribs disposed at the juncture of the sloping wall and outer wall of the neck. The closure includes a top wall, a depending ribbed skirt and a plurality of rectangular tabs extending from the bottom edge of the skirt between each pair of ribs. The tabs are bent inwardly and upwardly and include a serrated edge for engagement with the ribs on the bottle. When the cap is applied, the tabs form compressive members holding the lid in sealed position against the bottle neck. The closure is removed by twisting, which causes the tabs to be shifted outwardly beyond the bottle ribs so that the cap can be lifted from the bottle. The closure cannot be reapplied since, during removal, the tabs have been bent outwardly to a point where they can no longer engage the bottle ribs.

    • A tamper-resistant plastic cap and container neck are disclosed, the cap having a skirt with upper and lower internal beads separated by a circumferential first score line connected to a second score line extending to the lower edge of the skirt. The neck has external beads matching the skirt beads to hold the cap on the neck. By pulling upward on a tab depending from said lower edge adjacent said second score line, the lower part of the skirt may be torn away along the second and then the first score line. This leaves a reclosure cap held on the neck by the upper bead means. A thin flange projecting from the periphery of the cap is used to remove the cap in its reclosure mode. However, this flange is shaped with its underside slanting down-inward to merge with the exterior of the skirt. If one attempts to use the flange to pry off the cap in its original sealing mode, sufficient force cannot be applied. Various cap bead shapes are disclosed. The beads may be continuous or interrupted and closer together and thinner than in prior caps. The skirt and neck below and lower bead are elongated and fit tightly together throughout substantially their entire length to frictionally engage to prevent removal of the cap in sealing mode. In one form of the invention the neck may be sealed with commerically available foil; the cap is dimensioned so the foil is inserted in the cap prior to being applied to the neck.
