摘要： For high-resolution spectral volume sampling, a band-pass filter spectrally filters electromagnetic radiation from a scene to wavelengths within a specified wavelength range. A slit array is located at an image of the scene and includes a plurality of slits arranged in parallel. Each slit has a specified width and a specified spacing between slits. Each slit further transmits the electromagnetic radiation. A dispersion device disperses the transmitted electromagnetic radiation from the slit array with a specified dispersion while focusing the transmitted electromagnetic radiation onto a detector array so that each wavelength of electromagnetic radiation from each slit is focused as a unique, non-overlapping line on the detector array.

摘要： An optical system measures scene inhomogeneity. The system includes a mirror for receiving radiance of a field-of-view (FOV) of a scene, and reflecting a portion of the radiance to an optical detector. A controller is coupled to the mirror for changing the FOV. The optical detector provides a signal of the reflected portion of radiance of the scene. A processor determines scene inhomogeneity, based on amplitude of the signal provided from the optical detector. The controller is configured to modulate the FOV at a periodic interval, using a sinusoidal waveform, a pulse code modulated waveform, or a pseudo-random waveform.

摘要： A method for estimating the error statistic for retrieved temperature and emissivity of a surface material includes determining the second order analytical error propagation from a measured radiance that differs from the true radiance by additive gaussian noise, which is independent in each band. The radiance error is translated into a diagonal covariance matrix and an analytical estimate results in a determination of the standard deviation and bias of surface temperature. Further, the method for estimating the error statistic utilizes Monte Carlo simulation from a sufficiently large ensemble of radiance spectra for the retrieved surface temperature and emissivity. Temperature and emissivity of the surface material were retrieved using ISSTES algorithm.

The system also includes apparatus for overlaying earth surface coordinates on the images from a global navigation system to enable identifying the location of areas in the images.

摘要： The sub-surface temperature of a body of water, such as an ocean, is measured remotely by directing a laser beam into a body of water and analyzing the Raman backscatter produced by the water. The Raman backscatter contains information which, when processed, indicates the water temperature at various depths. Precise temperature measurements may be made by separately detecting and measuring the polarization ratio at different wavelength intervals throughout the Raman band and measuring the differential diffuse attenuation coefficient using range-gated Raman backscatter techniques on a wavelength by wavelength basis.

摘要： A technology is described for spatially estimating thermal emissivity. A method can include obtaining spectral emissivity data and satellite imaging data for a geographic area. A weighted emissivity model of emissivity values may be generated for surfaces included in the geographic area from the spectral emissivity data and the satellite imaging data, wherein the spectral emissivity data is mapped to the satellite imaging data to generate the weighted emissivity model. Thermal imaging data for the geographic area may be received from an airborne thermal imaging sensor and a thermal emissivity map can be generated for the geographic area using the thermal imaging data and the weighted emissivity model. The emissivity values from the weighted emissivity model can be used to estimate thermal emissivity values.

摘要： Techniques are provided for an image processing device to receive image information comprising image data for a plurality of mid-wave infrared region (MWIR) channels, where the image data is obtained during a first imaging period and during a second imaging period temporally different from the first imaging period. A plurality of sets of atmospheric wind vectors are calculated using differences between image data obtained during the first imaging period and the image data obtained during the second imaging period for corresponding sets of MWIR channels. An altitude is assigned to the plurality of atmospheric wind vectors in each set based on a brightness temperature of each wind vector and a pre-computed atmospheric temperature profile to generate a set of two-dimensional wind fields comprising one two-dimensional wind field for each set of MWIR channels.
