The female part additionally includes an elongated rotatable arm having a rounded distal end for contacting the groove in the nipple for holding the nipple in place at an intermediate position consisting of a partial removal of the nipple from the female part upon subsequent activation of the nipple release mechanism until pressure inside the nipple drops below a predetermined pressure level.

摘要： A dry disconnect coupling connects the transfer hose from a fuel oil storage tank and the fill pipe of a tanker truck to form a continuous flow path between the storage tank and the tanker truck. The coupling includes an adapter, a coupler, and means for returning fuel residue to the flow path or to an external reservoir. The adapter is attached to the fill pipe of the tanker truck on one end and to the coupler on the other end. The free end of the coupler is attached to the transfer hose from the storage tank. The adapter and the coupler each define a flow passageway therethrough which is sealed by a poppet valve having an end face. The fuel returning means includes a reservoir for collecting fuel residue that accumulates on the end faces of the adapter and the coupler during transfer operations. In a preferred embodiment, the returning means includes a venturi vacuum for suctioning the fuel residue out of the reservoir and into the flow passageway defined by the coupler. In another preferred embodiment, the returning means includes aspirating and pumping means for suctioning the fuel residue out of the reservoir into a holding chamber, and then pumping the fuel residue out of the holding chamber into the flow passageway defined by the coupler.

摘要： A plug coupling for providing a pressure-sealed connection to a device having a cylindrical connector. The coupling has a tube-like support element having a front portion provided with a sealing ring and a rear portion formed as an inlet part. Elongated clamping jaws are linked to the support element and extend in a generally axial direction. The clamping jaws are arranged concentrically around a longitudinal axis of the support element and have free ends radially displaceable. A sleeve surrounds the support element and is shiftable in longitudinal direction and has a front end portion provided with a rim for engaging peripheral surfaces of the clamping jaws for locking them in an engaged position. The sleeve is urged into the engaged position either by a spring or by pressure. An arresting device blocks the sleeve to prevent this engagement of the plug coupling when fluid pressure is applied thereto.

摘要： There is disclosed a quick acting coupling for interconnecting tubular members such as hoses which is particularly useful with fire fighting equipment. The device has a body member for attachment to one of a pair of tubular members. The body member distally carries a plurality of segmented jaws which are pivotally mounted thereon to permit movement between radially expanded and contracted positions. The outer surfaces of the jaws have flat grooves having leading and trailing cam surfaces. The jaws are surrounded by a cam guide ring that is mounted for limited axial displacement on the assembly of jaws with cam guides of mating contour. The cam guide surfaces are beveled, planar surfaces and are engaged by the cam guides of the cam ring in both the opened and closed positions so that axial movement of the cam ring positively expands and contracts the segmented jaws.
