    • Security box apparatus is adapted for use with a conventional license plate mounting structure of a vehicle which includes a plurality of spaced apart installation holes. The security box apparatus is adapted to affix a license plate thereto to secure a protected item and comprises a housing member, a door, a locking structure and a license plate mounting assembly. The housing member is provided with a plurality of anchoring holes alignable with the installation holes so that a mounting fastener may extend through these holes to securely fasten the housing member to the license plate mounting structure. A recess is formed in the housing member and the door is sized and adapted to be received in this recess to enclose the interior and the protected item. The door is movable between a closed position wherein access to the interior is prevented and an opened position wherein access to the protected item is permitted. The locking structure has a secured state to latch the door to the recess in the closed position and a non-secured state whereby the door is movable from the closed position to the opened position. The license plate mounting assembly is disposed on the housing member and is for attaching the license plate to the housing member in a mounted position wherein the license plate conceals the door from view.

    • A locking mechanism is adapted to be attached to the inside surface (31) of a safe door (30) or the like. A key lock (12) with a bolt (18) secures to the inside of the door. A lock pin body (14) has a ledge (22) to which are secured lock pins (24) and depending from the ledge (22) is an actuator section (20) have vertical guide slots (48 and 50). A slide plate (16) is designed for movement on the face of actuator section (20). The slide plate (16) is biased against bolt (18) and has two slots (80 and 82). To unlock the safe door the lock bolt (18) is retracted by key or combination so that the slide plate latch follows under spring tension. A shaft extending from the door exterior through actuator section (20) and one of the guide slots (50) is engaged by one of the slots (80) of the slide plate latch and when rotated moves the body (14) down to disengage the lock pins (24) from their locking elements in the safe casing.

    • A hasp-type latch includes a hasp member with a base having a base wall and a pair of upstanding side walls and a latch arm which is pivotally mounted thereon. The side walls of the pad include releasable latching elements which are engageable with the arm in its open position to hold it in that position. The staple member has a base with a top wall and a depending sidewall defining a cavity thereunder, and the top wall has an opening therethrough. A post member has a pedestal portion which extends through the opening into the cavity of the staple base, and a post portion which extends upwardly through the aperture in the arm in its closed position. The pedestal portion includes securing means in the cavity which extends outwardly beyond the opening in the top wall to prevent the post member from being pulled through that opening. Generally the post member is rotatable to locate an elongate axis so that it overlies a portion of the hinge leaf in the closed position and prevents its being pivoted upwardly. The post member may include an integrally formed lock such as combination locks and key locks to lock the post member in this latching position.

    • A gate ring for a combination lock tumbler that has securing means on the gate ring that normally prevents rotation of the gate ring with respect to the drive member. The securing means includes a cam that alternatively releases the securing means to permit rotation of the gate ring with respect to the drive means or returns the securing means to the normal position. The securing means also comprise a flexible web on the gate ring extending adjacent the outside of the drive member. The cam is mounted between the web and a portion of the gate ring. Rotation of the cam to its normal position moves the flexible web to its normal position against the drive member, and rotation of the cam to its releasing position allows the web to move to its releasing position away from the drive member. The web is integrally formed on the gate ring, which is preferably plastic. The web is located along a chord of the circular gate ring perpendicular to a radius extending from the center of the gate ring through to the cam. The cam may have shoulders that go over a portion of the gate ring and the web to hold the cam in place. The web is mounted such that it is elastically stretched by the cam to its normal position whereby the web is urged against the cam to limit movement of the cam, and the elasticity of the web urges it to the releasing position when the cam is not urging the web to its normal position. Both the web and the drive member have gripping means for securing the drive member to the web and gate ring.
