A volume of a granulated polymer material is deposited into the bin and around the article. A sub-volume of the material adheres to and forms a hardened layer upon the exposed pattern defining surface, a corresponding part created having a specified thickness and matching configuration.

摘要： A method of insert molding a preformed item into a molded product, the molded product being formed by injecting a moldable material into a mold, is disclosed. The method includes adhering the preformed item to a surface of the mold with an adhesive, wherein the surface to which the preformed item is adhered is free of any features provided for holding the preformed item in place on the mold surface. The method next includes injecting the moldable material into the mold such that the moldable material at least partially surrounds the preformed item, and curing the moldable material. Articles molded via the disclosed method are also described.

The heated mold configurations can be made of inexpensive aluminum, compared to the traditional stainless steel production mold, and therefore will help the manufacture of large molded plastic articles.

摘要： A multilayer skin comprising an outer layer prepared by slush molding powder of a thermoplastic elastomer composition having a polypropylene resin, a hydrogenated styrene-butadiene random copolymer rubber, a process oil, an elastomer with high oil absorption capability, and a release agent. An inner layer is bonded to the outer layer, is prepared by slush molding, and is a blend of an elastomer with high oil absorption capability, an olefinic polymer with active hydrogen, and a catalyst which promotes isocyanate reaction. There is also a multilayer skin with a different composition as well as an article made with a multilayer skin having the compositions. There is further a thermoplastic elastomer composition for a layer of a multilayer skin.
