    • A rail bridge rescue frame comprises three elongated legs having upper and lower ends. The upper ends are secured to a head assembly so as to universally pivot with respect thereto. Two of the legs are forward legs of shorter and similar length and the third is a rear leg of longer length. Means are secured to the lower end of each of the forward legs to bear against a side portion of a rail. Means are attached to the lower end of the rear leg to secure to a portion of a rail. The frame is constructed so that when the rear leg is secured to one rail of a railway and the lower ends of the forward legs are bearing against outer portions of an adjacent rail thereof, the head assembly will be positioned clear of the railway to one side to provide support for a line to lift a person or the like below the railway up to the level of the railway.

The reversible frictional brake for use with rope or the like is suspended by means of a loop attached to the housing. The frictional relationship between the rope and the rollers, end links, snap links and axle brake the travel of the rope through the brake section, thereby allowing a single rope handler to lower heavy weights and individuals attached to the rope in a controlled fashion. After a lowering operation, the brake housing may be simply rotated relative to the housing, thereby readying the reversible frictional brake for use with rope or the like for the next lowering operation.

    • Optical non-uniformity correction (NUC) of an active mode image sensor scans a spot over a portion of the sensor's FOV within a frame time so that the net response of the sensor is approximately uniform. Scanning the laser spot simultaneously performs the NUC and provides the illumination of the FOV for imaging the scene. The laser spot is suitably scanned in an overlapping geometrical pattern relative to a line-of-sight of the sensor's imager while modulating a spacing between overlapping laser spots, the size of the spot, a dwell time of the laser spot or the energy of the laser spot or combinations thereof as a function of the scan position of the laser spot so that the laser illumination is inversely proportional to the imager response at the scan position of the laser spot. A liquid crystal waveguide may be used to form and scan the small laser spot over the FOV within the frame time.

    • A worker-lifting unit such as a boom lift or scissors lift may be provided with fall-arresting system for a worker. The fall-arresting system may include a worker-support device enclosed by guard rails and an anchoring point for a fall-arresting harness of the worker. The anchoring point may be positioned on the worker-support device high enough so that, when the worker is in the device, the anchoring point is above the worker's harness. Thus the worker may safely leave the device, when it is in a raised position, while the worker's fall-arresting harness may remain attached to the anchoring point.

    • A multi part clamp for fall protection use on a standing seam roof. One component of the clamp is a clamp body with a slot formed within. This slot that may be so designed to allow attachment to multiple styles of standing seam roofs without having to slide the clamp body onto an end of a seam. Another component of the clamp is a pressure bar so designed as to apply pressure to the standing seam without puncturing or tearing the seam metal. Another component is one or more fasteners may be directed through the clamp body to apply pressure and secure the pressure bar to the roof seam and further secure the clamp to the standing seam. Another component is an attachment bracket on the clamp body for attaching a safety fall arrest system or harness to the clamp that is capable of maintaining load in four directions.
