    • The present disclosure provides, in certain aspects, unique methods and systems for connecting orthopedic components. In some forms, a male-type projection of a first orthopedic component is securely lodged within a female-type aperture in a second orthopedic component. In one embodiment, the projection, while received through a proximal entryway in the aperture, includes a first longitudinal region with deformed surface elements that provide a first securing zone within the aperture and a second longitudinal region with deformed surface elements that provide a second securing zone within the aperture. The first securing zone is located proximate the distal end of the projection, and the second securing zone is located proximate the proximal entryway of the aperture.

    • A humeral head augment device for use in a modular shoulder prosthesis. The humeral head augment device has an external bearing surface with at least one surface portion that includes a radius of curvature. The radius of curvature is configured to constrain translational movement of the implanted shoulder prosthesis when the humeral head augment device is positioned within the shoulder prosthesis. The humeral head augment device also includes a coupling mechanism designed to lock the humeral head augment device to either the stem or the humeral head, thereby ensuring proper operational positioning of the device within the shoulder prosthesis and allowing the implanted shoulder prosthesis to function in a patient suffering from rotator cuff arthropathy. A shoulder prosthesis using a humeral head augment device, a method for assembling a shoulder prosthesis and method for using a humeral head augment device in a shoulder prosthesis are also disclosed.

    • A prosthesis assembly in one embodiment includes a stem configured to be implanted in a bone and including a first coupling portion, a head having a bearing surface configured to mate with at least one of a natural opposing joint component and a prosthetic opposing joint component, the head further having a second coupling portion, a coupler including a third coupling portion and a fourth coupling portion, the third coupling portion configured to couple with the second coupling portion, and an insert including (i) a fifth coupling portion configured to couple with the fourth coupling portion in any of a plurality of rotational orientations in combination with any of a plurality of roll angles and any of a plurality of pitch angles, and (ii) a sixth coupling portion configured to couple with the first coupling portion only when the insert assumes a predetermined rotational orientation with respect to the stem.
