    • A switch device includes: a switch housing case; a holder fixedly placed inside the case; a switch fixedly housed inside the holder; and multiple switch buttons each capable of making pressing force act on the switch. An intermediate cap integrally including a lid portion covering the switch and a tubular portion continuing to a peripheral edge portion of the lid portion is attached to the holder. A first deformation portion on the tubular portion deforms the tubular portion by pressing on the lid portion from a first switch button. A second deformation portion on the lid portion deforms a center portion of the lid portion by pressing on the center portion of the lid portion from a second switch button. Two types of switch buttons without making changes to the parts exclusive of the switch buttons becomes possible.

    • A pushbutton switch includes a pushbutton for changing a switching mode of a tact switch provided on a switch holder fixedly disposed within a casing. The pushbutton includes a push operation portion disposed in a through hole provided in the casing and a collar that protrudes outwardly from the push operation portion and faces an inner face of the casing at the peripheral edge of the through hole. The pushbutton is connected to the switch holder and resiliently urged toward the side on which the collar gets closer to the inner face of the casing. Projections projecting toward the inner face of the casing are projectingly provided integrally at a plurality of positions spaced in the peripheral direction on an opposing face, of the collar of the pushbutton, that is opposed to the inner face of the casing. This prevents a freezing problem in the operation of a pushbutton.

In the outer handle device, a cover member is detachably mounted on the base member so as to cover the key hole, the cover member being formed as a separate body from the outer handle so as to form part of the housing recess while forming a design surface of the base member. Accordingly, it is possible to provide a vehicle door outer handle device that makes it difficult for the position of a cylinder lock to be identified.

Cr (chromium) may be selected for the sputtering target, and the film thickness may be in the range of 0.05 μm to 0.20 μm to produce the appearance of a metallic surface. A double layer structure may be used by forming a coating consisting of acrylic urethane paint and having a thickness of 5 μm to 50 μm on the metallic film (16) to protect the metallic film (16) on the surface of the outer cover (9).

    • An open vehicle rear view system includes left and right mirror housings. A mirror holder for holding a mirror is supported in each mirror housing so as to pivot between a normal view position for obtaining a normal rear view and a changed view position which is changed from the normal view position. An actuator is provided between the mirror housing and the mirror holder. The actuator includes an electric motor rotatable in forward and reverse directions and a reduction mechanism for reducing output of the electric motor. A drive control circuit controls operation of the electric motors so as to simultaneously pivot both the mirror holders according to operation of an operating member operated by a driver in order to select the normal view position or the changed view position of the mirror holders. Thus, it is possible to easily change a rear view when necessary, while eliminating the need for the driver to change his posture and reducing electric power consumption.

    • A capacitive sensor unit of a door handle device is universally adaptable to door handles of various different designs. The vehicle door handle device, having an electrostatic capacitance detection circuit incorporated in a grip portion thereof, includes a sensor unit having a detection circuit insert molded in a plastic member, a hollow cavity formed in the grip portion to receive the sensor unit, and a retaining member made of plastic material for retaining the sensor unit in the cavity. By suitably changing the shape of the retaining member, the sensor unit can be adapted to door handles of different designs.
