    • A fuel cell system includes a first shut valve capable of shutting off a gas flow in a gas path where a fuel cell gas flows; and a second shut valve arranged more towards the downstream side of the gas flow than the first shut valve, and capable of shutting off the gas flow. In each of the first shut valve and the second shut valve, sealing is performed by intimate contact between a movable member and a seal member and a gas pressure supplied from the upstream applies a force to the movable member to bring it into intimate contact with the seal member. A deformation degree by an external force of the same intensity is set greater in the seal member of the second shut valve than in the seal member of the first shut valve.

    • A fluid control valve comprises a valve element, a casing, a fluid flow passage formed in the casing, and an actuator drivingly moving the valve element to the casing in the axial direction. The fluid flow passage introduces a fluid from the inlet for the fluid and supplies the fluid into the clearance between the inner wall surface of a guide part and the outer peripheral surface of the valve element to lift the valve element relative to the inner wall surface of the guide part in the state of non-contact with each other. The actuator moves the valve element in the axial direction in the state of non-contact and changes the clearance between the outlet of the casing and the tip of the valve element to control the output flow amount or output pressure of the fluid.

    • Apparatus for treating exhaust gases comprising a catalyst bed through which the exhaust gas is passed whereby nitrogen oxides and dust present therein are removed from the gas, said catalyst bed being designed such that the catalyst therein is discharged from the bed continuously or intermittantly while being fed in an amount that can compensate for the discharged amount, a heating device for heating the catalyst discharged from the bed to a temperature in a range from about 700.degree. to 1200.degree. C. for reactivation of the catalyst and separation of the dust accumulated on the bed surface and retained in the interstices between the catalyst particles therein, and a device for discharging sulfur dioxides produced during the course of heating the catalyst. This apparatus is very effective in simultaneously removing the nitrogen oxides and the dust from exhaust gases such as boiler exhaust gases.
