    • A passenger protection apparatus has plural kinds of passenger protectors, e.g., air bags and seat belt retractors, which are actuated when a scale of collision of a vehicle is above an actuation level. It has a memory for memorizing actuation levels which are set in advance for each kind of the passenger protectors. The apparatus has a corrector for correcting the actuation level, which is kept in the memory, of non-actuated kind of passenger protector to a lower level when at least one kind, out of the plural kinds, of passenger protectors is actuated. In case the passenger protection apparatus is made up of a gas-actuated air bag which is actuated by a plularity of gas generators, it has also a memory for memorizing actuation levels which are set in advance for each of the gas generators. An actuation level corrector corrects the actuation level, which is kept in the memory, of a non-actuated gas generator to a lower level when at least one of the plurality of gas generators is actuated.

    • The storage control device of the present invention reduces the power consumption amount by stopping the transmission of power to enclosures that are not accessed. A plurality of additional enclosures are switch-connected via backend switches to a base enclosure. Drives that have not been accessed for a predetermined time or more undergo spin-down. When all of the drives in the enclosure enter a spin-down state, the supply of power from the power supply in the enclosure to the respective drives is stopped. The base enclosure that manages the system constitution of the storage control device turns OFF the switch connected to the enclosure when all of the drives in a certain enclosure have spun down. The transmission of power to this enclosure is accordingly stopped.

    • A copy management switch is placed in a network that connects a storage device with a computer. This copy management switch is connected to the computer, a first storage device, and a second storage device over the network. The copy management switch copies beforehand data stored in the first storage device to the second storage device. On receiving a read request, which is issued from the computer to the first storage device, the copy management switch converts the read request to the first storage device into a read request to the second storage device, and then transmits the converted read request to the second storage device. The second storage device transfers, to the copy management switch, data corresponding to the read request. The copy management switch transfers the data to the computer as data transferred from the first storage device.
