    • An airflow system for a solid-ink melter tank is disclosed, which prevents clogging of drop tube supplying solid ink to the solid-ink melter tank. An inlet may provide airflow as well as solid ink to the melter tank and an outlet maintained at a temperature higher than temperature of the inlet, promotes a convective air current. The inlet may be coaxial with the drop tube or is present as a separate opening in the solid-ink melter tank. The outlet can be taller, externally insulated, and fabricated with a thermally conductive material as compared to the inlet. The heated outlet promotes expulsion of hot air from the solid-ink melter tank and prevents heating of drop tube, which leads to drop tube clogging by partially melting the solid ink.

    • A replenishment carrier injection system is provided for adding carrier particles to a developer housing in a two-component developer toner imaging machine. The replenishment system includes (i) a carrier-only hopper for receiving and containing a first quantity of carrier particles; (ii) metering valves connected to a discharge end of the carrier-only hopper; (iii) a pneumatic plenum connected to the metering valves; (v) an air pump connected to the carrier-only hopper and to the pneumatic plenum for pressurizing the carrier-only hopper and for pneumatically conveying a metered quantity of carrier particles in an air stream from the pneumatic plenum; and (vi) carrier injection assemblies each being connected to the pneumatic plenum and including a conduit for carrier flow, a direct injector elbow connecting the conduit to a developer housing for directly injecting fresh carrier from the pneumatic plenum into the developer housing; and a fresh carrier current collector for detecting any fault in fresh carrier flow through said direct injector elbow the system into the developer housing.

    • An apparatus for developing a latent image recorded on a surface including a housing defining a chamber storing a supply of toner. A toner donor member is spaced from the image bearing surface and adapted to transport toner to a region opposed from the surface. A charging device is disposed in the chamber for ion charging the toner. A vibrational driver fluidizes the toner in the chamber. The vibrational driver and a transport member cooperate with one another to define a region wherein a substantially constant quantity of toner having a substantially constant ion charge is deposited on the transport member. The toner is electrostatically transferred from the transport member to the donor member which contains an AC biased self spaced electrode structure so as to form a toner cloud for developing the latent image in an image on image process.

    • An apparatus which develops a latent image recorded on an image receiving member with developer material. A chamber in the developer housing stores a supply of developer material. A donor roll is positioned in the chamber of the housing so as to transport developer material into contact with the latent image to develop the latent image. A rotating, elongated member fluidizes the developer material. As developer material is discharged from a storage container into the chamber of the developer housing, it exerts pressure on the fluidized developer material to move the developer material from one end of the housing to the other end thereof. An electrical bias is applied between the elongated member and the donor roll so that developer material is attracted to the donor roll as the developer material advances from one end of the developer housing to the other end thereof.

    • This invention relates to an apparatus for simultaneously charging, exposing, and developing imaging members at low voltages which comprises a semi-transparent deflected flexible imaging member, an electronic imaging source means, a light beam deflector member, a modulator means, a laser means, a sensitizing roll means, containing magnets therein, a development roll means containing magnets therein, a voltage source means for the sensitizing roll means, a voltage source means for the development roll means, a developer supply reservoir containing conductive developer particles therein comprised of insulating toner resin particles and conductive carrier particles, a sensitizing nip situated between the flexible imaging member and the sensitizing roll, a development nip situated between the imaging member and the development roller, the sensitizing roll means and development roll means moving in the same direction of movement as the semi-transparent deflected flexible imaging member, the voltage being generated by the voltage source with the sensitizing nip being of an opposite polarity of the voltage generated by the voltage source for the development roller, wherein an electric field of a predetermined polarity is established between the semi-transparent deflected flexible imaging member and the sensitizing roll means, which field exerts in the sensitizing nip an electrostatic force on the charged toner particles causing these particles to uniformly migrate toward the imaging member, subsequently subjecting the deflected flexible imaging member to the electronic image source whereby the electrostatic force exerted on the toner particles adjacent the light struck areas of the flexible imaging member are increased thereby causing toner particles to be deposited on the deflected flexible imaging member, and wherein toner particles are removed from the deflected flexible imaging member in areas not exposed to light by the development roll and developed in the areas exposed to light.
