摘要： The knife has a slotted handle and a blade that pivots into and out of the slot of the handle. A free floating pivot pin extends through the slotted end of the handle and through the opening of the tang of the blade, and a slotted ring lock extends about the pivot pin. The ring lock is rotatable on the handle so that its slot is movable into and out of alignment with the slot of the handle, to lock the blade with respect to the handle. The periphery of the tang defines hemispherical indentations, and a spring-urged ball in the handle engages the tang and registers with the indentations so that the blade resists movement when in its folded or extended positions but is free to move when intermediate the end positions.

摘要： An assisted opening folding knife having a blade with an engagement surface extending generally radially outwardly with respect to the pivot axis of the blade. A cantilevered leaf spring contacts the engagement surface and immediately urges the blade to the extended position upon the blade pivoting through a predetermined angle from the retracted position. An elongated engagement member is pivotally connected to the handle and configured for pivoting between a blade locking position and an unlocking position. In one embodiment, the cantilevered leaf spring also urges the engagement member towards the blade locking position. The engagement member automatically locks the blade in the extended position, and the cantilevered leaf spring, the blade, and the engagement member all substantially extend in the pivot plane.

The knife includes a blade having a tang with a ledge portion defined in an upper region of the tang for receipt of a sliding bolt. The bolt is provided for sliding movement within a channel defined in the handle, and the bolt is urged forwardly towards the tang of the blade by a bolt spring, such as a coil spring. A band is connected at one end to the bolt, and the other end of the band is connected to a spool, which is carried for rotation within the handle. The spool can be rotated with respect to the handle to cause a winding of the band thereon, which in turn causes retraction of the bolt, such that the blade can be pivoted out of a locked extended position, towards a retracted position.

Also provided is a folding blade extendable from the handle, having a serrated edge for cutting seat belts, and a pry member for prying off objects. 摘要： A tool and sheath combination in which the tool is securely engaged in the sheath. A release bar having a tip and a distal end is coupled to the sheath. The tool has at least one recess for accepting the tip of the release bar when the tool is fully inserted in the sheath. A flexible element coupled to the release bar biases the release bar to engage the recess when the tool is fully inserted in the sheath and a fulcrum located between the tip and the distal end of the release bar permits rotation of the release bar for disengagement from the recess under finger pressure applied to the distal end. A second surface along the tip and angled obliquely relative to the edge of the recess may continue to engage this edge after the biasing element is overcome by hand pressure to retain the tool in the sheath. This second surface, however, may be overcome by applying force to pull the tool out of the sheath.
