    • To equally charge a plurality of batteries constituting a traction battery, when the number of times of the ordinary charges increases beyond a reference value or when the sum total watt-hour (charged energy or charged and discharged energy) of the traction battery increases beyond a reference value or when a difference in terminal voltage between the maximum and minimum values among the battery blocks increases beyond a reference value, the traction battery is automatically equalizing charged at a small charge current for a long charge time, continuously after the ordinary battery charge, periodically, thus facilitating the maintenance of an electric vehicle. Further, whenever the traction battery is equalizing charged, the remaining battery capacity meter can be reset to a full scale automatically to eliminate an accumulated error. In addition, the battery life is estimated for battery replacement.

    • A motor control system controls a steering apparatus with an electric motor. A command signal is generated in accordance with a torsion torque of the steering apparatus and the rotational direction and torque of the electric motor is controlled in accordance with the command signal. The system includes a vehicle speed sensor, a hysteresis circuit for changing a hysteresis width in accordance with an output from the vehicle speed sensor, and a phase compensation designating section responsive to an output from the torsion torque sensor supplied via the hysteresis circuit for outputting a command signal corresponding to a change rate of the torsion torque, so that the rotation direction and torque of the electric motor is controlled in accordance with the command signal. The hysteresis circuit makes large the hysteresis width during a high speed running of a vehicle to avoid influence of external disturbance due to vibrations from roads.

    • A mechanism for insertion and withdrawal of a printed board unit (20) to and from a shelf (10), by which the printed board is inserted in the shelf with less force and locked therein after the completion of the operation, an the complete insertion can be confirmed by a click noise and a mark. The mechanism includes a lock arm (26), which is fixed to the printed board unit (20) at the base portion thereof and has a flexible tip, a lever (25) pivoted to the printed board unit (20) and provided with a cam surface (30) for driving the lock arm (26) for insertion and withdrawal of the printed board unit (20), and an aperture (17) formed on the shelf (10) and engageable with the lock arm (26) when the same is in a fixed position. The lever (25) occupies predetermined angular positions, both when the printed board unit (20) is completely engaged to a connector and when the printed board unit is withdrawn therefrom.

    • A method for preparation of ionically crosslinked ethylene copolymers having excellent physical properties, which comprises melt blending a copolymer of (a) ethylene and (b) an .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid ester selected from the group consisting of isopropyl acrylate, isopropyl methacrylate, tert-butyl acrylate and tert-butyl methacrylate with (c) a metal compound selected from the group consisting of the acetates, formates and oxides of the metals having 1 to 3 valences in Groups I, II, III, IV-A and VIII of the Periodic Table, and keeping the resulting molten blend at a temperature of 200.degree. to 320.degree.
