    • A coaxial resonator comprising an outer conductor with closed and open ends, an inner conductor concentrically disposed in the outer conductor to establish a short circuit at the closed end and an open circuit at the open end, and a dielectric member mounted in the open circuit between the outer and inner conductors. An electrode is connected to the open circuit end of the inner conductor with a spacing from the dielectric member. A conductive plate, having a smaller surface area than that of the electrode but larger than the transverse cross-sectional area of the inner conductor, is provided between the dielectric member and the electrode. The dimensions of the conductive plate is appropriately chosen to accommodate frequency variations which might occur as a result of a connection with an external circuit.

    • A comb-line bandpass filter comprising an enclosure or outer conductor and a plurality of inner conductors arranged parallel in the outer conductor. Adjacent to one end of each inner conductor a body of dielectric material is attached to provide a larger diameter, lumped capacitance section while providing a lumped inductance section in the remainder of the inner conductor. A conductive layer, conductively coupled to the outer conductor, encircles the dielectric body to act as a shield between adjacent inner conductors so that the coupling between them is concentrated in the inductive section. Overall size of the comb-line filter is reduced by reduction both in axial length of the inner conductors and the spacing between them.

    • In a band stop filter having a plurality of series resonating circuits, and coaxial cables connected between the series resonating circuits, the length of each of the coaxial cables is made either shorter or longer than quarter wavelength at the center frequency. With this arrangement, asymmetry is introduced in the insertion loss vs frequency characteristic curve so that the curve is sharper than the symmetrical curve in a given range, resulting in a reduction of insertion loss at a transmission band which resides either above or below the center frequency. Two band stop filters may be combined to constitute an antenna coupler for connecting a transmitter and a receiver to a common antenna. Each of the series resonating circuits used in the band stop filter may be constructed of a quarter wavelength coaxial resonator, which functions as a parallel resonating circuit, and a loop-like coaxial cable, which functions as a coupling capacitor.

    • A microwave filter comprising within a conductive casing, a plurality of resonant transmission lines arranged parallel between opposed end walls of the casing, a plurality of shielding members each located between adjacent transmission lines, and a capacitive interstage coupling member disposed transverse to the transmission line. The interstage coupling member comprises a dielectric member and a plurality of conductive regions arranged successively thereon so as to establish capacitive coupling between adjacent conductive regions. Each transmission line is connected at one end to a side wall of the casing and supported at the other end by the dielectric member in electrical contact with a respective one of the conductive regions, whereby the interstage coupling between the transmission lines is provided by the capacitively coupled conductive regions.
