摘要： A magnetic resonance imaging system having a patient support arranged for pivoting movement about a pivot axis and linear or sliding motion along a support axis transverse to the pivot axis is provided with a device for measuring the location of a patient feature to be imaged. The measured location is used to define coordinates for positioning the patient support. These coordinates desirably are used to automatically move the patient support from a loading position to an imaging position where the feature will be properly aligned with the field axis of the imaging magnet. The system simplifies patient positioning.

Alternatively, the wireless handset may be embodied as a special purpose handset, that is capable of simply operating in a direct handset-to-handset communication mode. The wireless handset may additionally include features for supporting and enhancing direct communication between handsets. Such features may include a find feature that permits a user to determine which objects, including other wireless handset users, are located within a predetermined operating range of the wireless handset. A memorize feature may also be provided to permit handsets and other objects exchange information by wireless transmission.

摘要： A magnetic resonance imaging configuration to straighten and otherwise homogenize the field lines in the imaging portion, creating improved image quality. Through use of calibrated corrective coils, magnetic field lines can be manipulated to improve uniformity and image quality. Additionally, when the apparatus is composed of non-ferromagnetic materials, field strengths can be increased to overcome limitations of Iron-based systems such as by use of superconductivity. A patient positioning apparatus allows multi-positioning of a patient within the calibrated and more uniform magnetic field lines.

摘要： Methods and apparatus for performing magnetic resonance imaging are disclosed. In one embodiment coil antennas for use with a horizontal field magnetic resonance imaging apparatus are placed in proximity to the scanning region to obtain magnetic resonance images. In accordance with another aspect of the invention the coil antennas are arranged so as to provide zero mutual inductance between the coils so as to increase the sensitivity of the measurement. Additional embodiments include quadrature coil antennas including two antennas, each having their vector fields substantially perpendicular to each other and to a static magnetic field. Methods for using the disclosed antennas in acquiring magnet resonance scans is also disclosed.
