    • An organic electroluminescent element in accordance with the present invention includes: a transparent electrode; a blue light-emitting layer containing a blue light-emitting material having a maximum emission wavelength 460 nm or less; a first green light-emitting layer containing a first green light-emitting material having a maximum emission wavelength in the spectrum between 460 nm and 610 nm; a red light-emitting layer containing a red light-emitting material having a maximum emission wavelength of 610 nm or more; a second green light-emitting layer containing a second green light-emitting material having a maximum emission wavelength in the spectrum between 460 nm and 610 nm; and a reflecting electrode. The maximum emission wavelength of the first green light-emitting material is located on a short wavelength side of the spectrum. The maximum emission wavelength of the second green light-emitting material is located on a long wavelength side of the spectrum.

    • The surface light emitting device includes an organic EL element, a protection substrate, a protection part, and a light extraction structure part. The element has a first face and a second face opposite to the first face, and emits light from the first face. The substrate has transparency for light emitted from the element, and is placed facing the first face, and has a primary surface facing the first face of the element. The protection part is placed facing the second face of the element, and constitutes a housing in combination with the substrate and accommodates the element so as to protect the element from water. The structure part is interposed between the first face of the element and the substrate, and suppresses reflection of light emitted from the element on at least one of the first face of the element and the primary surface of the substrate.

    • The present invention proposes a white organic electroluminescent element which is a multiunit element capable of emitting high intensity light that is important to a light source for lighting use, and can have an extended lifetime while suppressing deterioration in luminance. The organic electroluminescent element includes: a transparent electrode; and a first light-emitting unit including a blue fluorescent light-emitting layer containing a blue fluorescent light-emitting material; an intermediate layer; and a second light-emitting unit including a red phosphorescent light-emitting layer containing a red phosphorescent light-emitting material and a green phosphorescent light-emitting layer containing a green phosphorescent light-emitting material; and a reflecting electrode, wherein: the first and second light-emitting units are stacked having the intermediate layer interposed therebetween; and a film thickness (tR) of the red phosphorescent light-emitting layer and a film thickness (tG) of the green phosphorescent light-emitting layer satisfy a relation of 5*tR≦tG.

    • The present invention provides an organic light emitting device which can reduce the angle dependency of the emission brightness and the emission color, and has a small change in the emission brightness and the emission color with respect to film thickness fluctuations, and can increase use efficiency of the light. The organic light emitting device of the present invention has a plurality of emission layers 3 between an anode 1 and a cathode 2, and the emission layers 3 are separated from each other by an equipotential surface forming layer 4 or a charge generating layer 4. The feature of the present invention resides in that the organic light emitting device has, at least either inside or outside the device, a light scattering means 5 for scattering light emitted from the emission layers 3. The organic light emitting device can reduce the angle dependency of the emission brightness and the emission color by outputting the light emitted from the emission layers in a condition where the light is scattered by the light scattering means.
