    • An improved apparatus for photographing and recognizing an absorbed component is provided comprising a vacuum nozzle which includes a main body portion having a larger outer size than that of the absorbed component and a tapered surface formed at the lower portion of the nozzle as a light diffusing surface. A plurality of first light sources are situated above the absorbed component at multiple heights are provided for back lighting the absorbed component. The tapered surface is formed in such a manner that the absorbed component is lighted by back lighting from the plurality of first light sources reflected off the tapered surface and selectively turned on according to the up/down movement of the vacuum nozzle, according to the type of the component.

    • A cloth edge control device for a sewing machine includes a pair of rollers, an optical sensor, and controller. The pair of rollers are arranged near a needle location in such a manner that the rollers are rotating about an axis perpendicular to a direction in which a cloth material is fed, so as to be pushed against the cloth material. The optical sensor is adapted for detection of the cloth material at a plurality of points on a line along a direction intersecting with the feed direction before the needle location. The controller detects the position and curvature of the edge of the cloth material according to a light intercept signal from the optical sensor and rotates the rollers independently of each other according to the position and curvature thus detected.

    • A filter unit comprises a metallic supporting plate possessed of stepped through holes opening with a larger diameter in one main surface and with a smaller diameter in the other main surface (wherein the diameter ratio of larger-diameter openings to smaller-diameter openings is desired to be in the range of 1:0.01 to 1:0.5) or a pressureproof supporting plate having in one surface thereof inclined liquid flow grooves arranged in a radial pattern and concentric circular liquid flow grooves adapted to intersect the radially arranged liquid flow grooves and a membrane filter disposed on the surface of the supporting plate containing larger-diameter openings or liquid flow grooves. This filter unit is ideally used for finely dividing and uniformly sizing suspended lipid particles assuming a definite average particle size and a specific particle size distribution. The high-pressure sizing apparatus and the method for production of suspended lipid particles utilize the filter unit constructed as described above and rely essentially for their operation on effecting fine division of lipid particles in the suspension by supplying the suspension of lipid particles from the membrane filter side under pressure and causing the suspension to pass through the membrane filter. Thus, they constitute themselves effective measures for pharmacological products and cosmetic products which are in need of lipid particles assuming a definite average particle size and a specific particle size distribution.
