摘要： A color cathode-ray tube comprises an envelope having rectangular flat face and rear plates opposing each other. A phosphor screen is formed on an inner surface of the face plate. Mask support members are mounted on an inner surface of the rear plate. A shadow mask is arranged in the envelope and supported by the mask support members to face the phosphor screen at a predetermined distance. A plurality of positioning posts are fixed on the inner surface of the rear plate and extend toward the face plate. A plurality of positioning pins extend from the inner surface of the face plate and engage the positioning posts so as to position the face plate at a predetermined position with respect to the rear plate. The shadow mask has setting openings through which the positioning posts extend so as to position the shadow mask at a predetermined position with respect to the rear plate.

A phosphor screen is formed on the inner surface of the front substrate. Electron-emitting elements are provided on the rear substrate. An indium layer is formed on a sealing surface lying between the front substrate and the sidewall. When the indium layer is heated and melted in a vacuum atmosphere, the front and rear substrates are sealed to each other, with the sidewall interposed between them.

A plurality of apertured flat masks, each mask comprising an effective portion having apertures and a non-effective portion surrounding the effective portion, are prepared. The flat masks are aligned and stacked, then filling material is poured into the apertures. The filling material is solidified thereby fixing the flat masks together. The fixed masks are pressed into a predetermined curved shape. Then, the filling material is removed from the apertures and the masks are separated.

摘要： In a color picture device having a color picture tube, three electron guns for emitting electron beams are arranged in a neck section of the tube. A shadow mask, having a number of apertures, is arranged opposing a phosphor screen of a panel section of the tube. Convergence yokes for correcting misconvergence of the three electron beams are arranged around the neck section. A convergence electrode for converging the three electron beams over the entire screen is arranged in the neck section at the ends of the guns closer to the phosphor screen. The convergence electrode has three pairs of pole pieces each of which is formed of a magnetic substance with high permeability and is arranged in the neck section so as to surround the electron beam between the pole pieces. The length Wp of each pole piece along the tube axis is about two times or more the distance G between the pole pieces, and the length Wp is about twice the thickness Wy of the convergence yoke along the tube axis. Thus, the leakage flux from the pair of pole pieces along the tube axis is 20% or less of the total magnetic field generated by the convergence yoke.
