    • Systems embodying the invention include an arm having a polished mirror-like surface located on the arm. The arm includes means for mounting the arm on a shaft (or spindle) to allow the arm to rotate freely in the lateral direction (perpendicular to the length of arm). The arm is intended for use in a system which includes means for directing a beam of light onto the mirror-like surface whereby when the mirror-like surface is rotated (e.g., by Beta degrees) the beam of light reflected from the mirror-like surface is swept through a proportionate number of (e.g., 2 Beta) degrees. An electrically controllable system is coupled to the arm causing the arm to move in one direction and then in the opposite direction whereby the arm is caused to vibrate (oscillate) back and forth. In a preferred embodiment the mirror is located at one end of the arm while the other end of the arm is part of an electrically controllable magnetic system which includes a coil and means for selectively passing a current in a first sense through the coil to cause the arm to move in one direction and then for passing a current in the opposite sense through the coil to cause the arm to move in the opposite direction whereby the arm is caused to vibrate (oscillate) back and forth.

    • A windshield wiper switch which comprises a push switch portion for controlling the spouting of windshield washer liquid by operating a push knob, a rotary switch portion for operating a windshield wiper at a plurality of rates, depending upon positions to which a rotor is rotated, and an adjusting system for positioning the rotor in the positions. Cams are provided in the push knob and the rotor, respectively, and when the push knob is pushed to operate while the position of the rotor is in a STOP position, the cams come into contact with each other so as to rotate the rotor in a LO position. Further, projected stoppers for preventing the rotor from rotating further are provided in the push knob and the rotor, respectively.

    • A switch device is provided in which the pressing force imparted to a handling lever is transmitted through a link member to a push switch provided with a push-lock mechanism. Such a device can be used where there is limited mounting space, such as in a vehicle. The invention includes a push switch, a handling lever, a link member, an elongated hole, and a connecting pin moveable within the elongated hole, and is characterized by a restraining wall for synchronizing the position of the handling lever and the state of the slider by restraining the movement of the connecting pin. According to the invention, the state of the push switch which is provided with a push-lock mechanism and the position of the lever are synchronized in that the handling lever does not return to an unpushed position when the slider is in the locked position. This is achieved by the configuration of the connecting pin, the elongated hole and the restraining wall.
