    • An apparatus on a spinning preparation machine, especially a flat card, roller card, cleaner or the like, with a cooling system, a roller has a cylindrical peripheral surface and a casing opposite to and spaced from this peripheral surface, a carding region where carding work is carried out and heat is generated being present between the peripheral surface of the roller and a part of the casing. A cooling medium enters the interior void space of the roller, passes through and exits again. In order to reduce or avoid thermal expansion of the roller in a structurally simple manner, the cooling medium is a cooling gas, especially air, which is capable of absorbing heat in the interior void space of the roller and dissipating it from the interior void space of the roller.

    • A fiber sliver producing apparatus includes an arrangement for making a running fiber web; a transverse web gathering device gathering the fiber web; and a sliver trumpet through which the gathered fiber web passes for being densified and discharged thereby as a running sliver. The sliver trumpet has a cross-sectionally rectangular outlet opening which has a width that is at least 10 times greater than its height. The apparatus further has a calender roll pair formed of two calender rolls through which the sliver passes after being discharged by the sliver trumpet. The calender roll pair defines a bight in which the outlet opening of the sliver trumpet is disposed.

    • A carding machine includes a main carding cylinder; a doffer cooperating with the main carding cylinder for removing fiber material therefrom; a stripping roll cooperating with the doffer for removing a fiber web therefrom; upper and lower cooperating crushing rolls together defining a nip for grasping the fiber web running from the doffer and the stripping roll; and a fiber web supporting and guiding body stationarily positioned underneath the stripping roll. The body has a length dimension extending generally parallel to the rotary axis of the stripping roll and an upper surface for supporting and guiding thereon the fiber web. The upper surface has a width extending generally horizontally and transversely to the stripping roll axis and oppositely located first and second longitudinally extending edge zones. The first edge zone is situated in a region between the doffer and the stripping roll and the second edge zone is situated in a region between the stripping roll and the crushing rolls and is oriented towards the nip defined by the crushing rolls.
