摘要： A method of mapping a four primary input signal to sets of four sub-pixels of a display device, the method including sub-sampling the input samples of the four primary input signal by assigning the first, second and third input signals of a particular input sample to the first, second and third sub-pixels, producing first, second and third primary colors of a particular set of four adjacent sub-pixels, respectively, and the fourth input signal of a further input sample to the fourth sub-pixel, producing a fourth color of said particular set of the four adjacent sub-pixels, wherein the particular input sample and the further input sample are associated with adjacent positions on the display device.

摘要： A method of processing image data comprises receiving input signals for specifying red, green and blue colours of the pixels of a display, performing a per-pixel low pass filtering (40) of the input signals, the low pass filtering function being dependent on the chrominance variation between adjacent pixels, and providing the filtered output signals for use in driving the pixels of a display.This method essentially measures the chrominance variation of the incoming signal, in the form of the colour change frequency, and depending on this variation, adaptively low-pass filters the incoming signal. This can be in such a way that the chrominance resolution of the outgoing signal is below the maximum chrominance resolution of the intended display, without errors in the average colour of a small group of pixels.

摘要： A video signal compensator (10, 70, 80, 290) for selectively compensating for age-related non-uniformities in a display, receives an indication of motion or detects motion in an incoming video signal, and receives or determines an indication of amounts of compensation for the different parts of the display needed to compensate for the non-uniformities. The compensator selectively applies the needed amount of compensation to the video signal according to the indicated motion to apply less of the needed compensation where there is less motion, over at least some of the range of possible motions. This can reduce the drive levels at least where the non uniformities are less visible because of the motion in the video. The reduced drive levels can lead to less ageing and thus prolong display life. The amounts of needed compensation can be predicted or determined from measured outputs of pixels of the display.
