    • The invention provides a photographic element comprising at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith at least one cyan dye-forming coupler, UV absorber and (A) a stabilizer of formula (I) wherein R1 is an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl or aryl group or a 5- to 10- membered heterocyclic ring which contains one or more heteroatoms selected from nitrogen, oxygen and sulfur, which ring is unsubstituted or substituted; Z is a hydrogen atom or a substituent group; X is a group selected from —SO2—, —SO—, —COO—,—CO— and —CS—, W is one or more unsubstituted or independently substituted alkylene groups connecting the nitrogen atom to X, and p is 0 or 1; R2 is a substituent group; or the groups represented by Z and R2 can be joined to form a ring which may be substituted; and (B) a high-boiling solvent of formula (II) wherein R3 is an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl or aryl group; and G is an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl group. The invention provides improved light and dark stability in a photographic element without degradation in hue or reactivity of the dyes therein.

    • In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, a photographic element is disclosed comprising a silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith an acetanilide-based yellow dye forming coupler and a stabilizer compound of the formula S-I: wherein R0 represents an aryl or heterocyclic group; Ra is H or a substituent group; L represents an alkylene linking group and p represents 0 or 1; and Rb is a substituent group, provided that substituent groups represented by Ra and Rb may be joined to form a ring. The presence of substituted amine compounds of formula S-I improves the efficiency of dye formation reaction for acetanilide-based couplers. When used in combination with known bis-phenolic stabilizers, substantial improvements in the light stability of the image dyes can be also be obtained. Accordingly, photographic elements of the present invention upon exposure and photographic processing exhibit good activity and yield yellow dye images that have low fading when exposed to light.

    • The present invention relates to a silver halide photographic element comprising a dye-forming coupler of formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is selected from an alkyl group, an aryl group, a 5-10 membered heterocyclic group containing one or more O, N or S atoms, each of which groups is unsubstituted or substituted, or a substituted amino group;R.sup.2 is an unsubstituted alkyl group having a secondary or tertiary carbon atom attached to the oxygen atom;X is hydrogen or a coupling-off group; andR.sup.3 is a substituent and n is 0 to 4; orwherein R.sup.2, as defined above, and an R.sup.3 substituent may together with the O atom form a 5-10 membered heterocyclic group which may contain one or more further heteroatoms selected from O, N and S, said group being unsubstituted or substituted; andwherein at least one of R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 separately or in combination constitutes a ballast group,the couplers providing enhanced light stability together with acceptable dye hue in images produced from photographic materials containing them.
