摘要： Thioalkanoyl-carnitines of general formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R is a straight alkylene radical having from 2 to 6 carbon atoms, or is a branched alkylene radical having from 3-6 carbon atoms, or is a branched alkylene radical having from 3-6 carbon atoms,R.sub.1 is a straight or branched lower alkyl radical having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, andX.sup.- is a halogen anionare prepared by reacting a thio-acid (II) of general formula R.sub.1 COSH(a) if in (I) the thioalkanoyl radical R.sub.1 COS-- is in terminal position, with a compound of general formula (III) ##STR2## wherein n is an integer comprised between 0 and 4 or(b) if in (I) the thioalkanoyl radical R.sub.1 COS-- is not in terminal position, with a compound of general formula (IV) ##STR3## wherein m and m.sup.1 are integers comprised between 0 and 3, andR.sub.2 is a lower alkyl radical having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms.The pharmaceutical compositions containing the thioalkanoyl-carnitines (I) possess mucolytic and antitussive activity.

摘要： A dispensing closure for a container for dispensing metered quantities of powder contents and the like therein and having an outer tubular element having a tubular body with an inclined bottom wall that terminates in an upstanding wall spaced from an inner wall surface defining a bottom inlet for communication with the interior of the container. A second element comprising a split cylinder is disposed axially in the outer tubular element and has a top defining an outlet opening on the outer tubular element. The second element has a wall in the tubular body spaced axially from the bottom wall and inwardly from the upstanding wall to define a chamber having an opening communicating with the bottom inlet opening. A second chamber is formed between the first-mentioned chamber with which it communicates and the bottom wall. The wall of the second element defines an outlet communicating with the second chamber and the top outlet opening. If the container is inverted from the upright a quantity of the contents enters the tubular element into the first-mentioned chamber. Upon return to an upright position this quantity of contents is retained in the second chamber and upon reinverting of the container it is dispensed through the top opening and a similar quantity of contents is introduced into the first-mentioned chamber for subsequent metered dispensing.

摘要： A dispenser and dispenser closure for storing two products separately in and on a necked container for eventual mixing thereof and dispensing them as a mixture. A sealed cup-shaped plug closes the container and has a bottom that is punchable or pierceable. The container contains a first material that is to be mixed with a second material contained in the cup-shaped plug externally of the container interior. A dispensing element which is a tubular punching piston is disposed slidable axially in the cup and is provided with a leading edge at an inner open end for punching or piercing the plug's bottom for introducing the second material into the container upon being depressed. The punching piston fixed therein coaxially therewith a dispensing tube open at both ends. A removable cover closes an outer end of the tube and removed therefrom automatically upon the punching piston being displaced. The mixtue contents are dispensed through the dispensing tube by first depressing the punching piston and then inverting the container once the mixture has been effected.

摘要： This invention disclosed the use of acetyl L-carnitine or of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof for the preparation of a medicament for preventing and/or treating peripheral neuropathies induced by the administration of a peripheral neuropathy—inducing anticancer agent. In particular said anticancer agent is selected from the group consisting of the family of platin compounds, taxanes, epothilone class and vinca alkaloids, farnesyl transferase inhibitors, thalidomide, 5-fluorouracil, cryptophycin analogues, proteasome inhibitors. Said medicament can be administered in a co-ordinated manner to a subject suffering from said peripheral neuropathies, or expected to suffer from said peripheral neuropathies. Beneficial effects on the patient's quality of life are achieved and an improvement of therapeutic index of the anticancer agent is obtained.
