摘要： A roller for use in fibrillating oriented films of polyolefin materials having a plurality of pins projecting from the surface of the roller. The pins are distributed in a plurality of rows spaced around the roller surface. The rows each contain about 25 to 34 pins per inch in a space-staggered relationship along two adjacent lines extending along the surface of the roller, either in a linear relationship inclined to a line parallel to the axis or rotation, or in a sinusoidal relationship with adjacent rows being in or out of phase. The roller is rotated and the film is advanced over the rotating roller surface for an arc length of contact of about 30 to 37 degrees to fibrillate the film. The ratio of the surface speed of the roller to the advancing film are controlled to a ratio between from about 1.8:1 to about 2.2:1.

The alarm system includes a controller and a radio frequency transceiver. An embodiment may further include a client application including software instructions for arming the alarm system, disarming the alarm system, and opening the valve. The security module may autonomously seek and/or link with another security module, thereby forming an ad hoc communications network to protect an object tethered to the security module by a wireless communications link and/or a security cable.

摘要： A device for separating fluids includes a microfluidic channel with one or more wall filters or membranes through which portions of the flow in the microfluidic channel can be removed. The wall filters can have precisely defined pores therein which restrict the removal of certain particles while allowing other particles and/or fluids to freely flow therethrough. Because of the high and uniform pore density and low flow resistance of these filters, the pressure drop along the microfluidic channel may result in a negative trans-filter pressure, thereby causing reverse flow of extracted fluid back through the filter and into the microfluidic channel. Precise design of the microfluidic channel and control of flow characteristics can minimize and/or eliminate this reverse flow while allowing for sufficient sweeping of the filter surface to inhibit clogging with particles.
