    • A label printer includes a thermal head, a keyboard unit for inputting label data including issuing number data determining the number of labels to be issued, a RAM for storing label data input by the keyboard unit, and a printing control circuit. The RAM at least first and second label data, and the printing control circuit performs a first label issuing operation in which the thermal head is driven to continuously print a label or labels according to the first label data read out from the RAM, interrupts the operation of the thermal head in response to an interrupt command input from the keyboard unit during the first label issuing operation and then changes the label issuing number data of the first label data stored in the RAM to indicate the number of remaining labels to be issued. The printing control circuit then performs a second label issuing operation in which the thermal head is driven to continuously print a label or labels according to the second label data, and then performs the first label issuing operation again after the second label issuing operation is completed.

    • A thermal printer has a memory for storing printing patterns; a printer unit on which a thermal printing head having one line of dot print elements is replaceably mounted, the printer unit driving the printing head to print a printing pattern stored in the memory in a unit of one line; and a paper feed unit for feeding paper in a direction perpendicular to a direction of a print element line of the printing head. A first timer is provided for setting a print cycle for the printing head; and a second timer is provided for setting a feed cycle for feeding paper to the printing head at a selected speed. A controller concurrently drives the printer unit in the print cycle and the paper feed unit in the feed cycle, the controller driving the printer unit to cause the printing head to print in a print cycle while the paper feed unit is driven to continuously feed paper to the printer unit at the selected speed determined by the feed cycle set by the second timer. The controller adjusts at least one of the first and second timers to thereby adjust at least one of the print cycle and feed cycle, in such a manner that the length of the paper feed per printing line is equal to a print element pitch of the printing head.

    • The communication system has a plurality of sub-networks, for example composed of transmission communication nodes, PBX communication notes, application communication nodes, and the like, respectively. Each of these sub-networks is managed by a management system, and all of the management systems are managed by an integrated management system. Each communication node is autonomously provided with the function of establishing an emergency routing as a first stage routing control on the occurrence of a failure in a circuit affecting the communication node. The autonomous routing is heirarchial with respect to node types. Failure and the influences of failure are reported to the sub-network management systems, which in turn can report to the integrated management system. As a second stage of routing control, one or more of the management systems establishes a global routing to replace the emergency local routing. The global routing may take effect if the managment system determines that the failure cannot be corrected within a substantially fixed period of time.
