摘要： The present case concerns the manufacture of hybrid electrooptical chips. A substrate is treated so that it can both provide locations for electrooptical components and be etched so as to generate grooves in which optical fibers can be mounted. During the etching of the grooves any electrooptical component already mounted on the substrate is protected from damage by the etchant by a protective coating. A feature is that optical fibers can be mounted with their cores above the surface of the wafer.

The hollow receiving tube in conjunction with the essentially closed distal end and the proximal base end act to retain the preprinted material in a protected environment which aids in ensuring a clean, quality representation of the preprinted material for protracted time periods, especially in environments where people may come into repeated contact with the display apparatus and it is desirable to maintain the quality of the preprinted material, such as restaurants, trade shows and retail sales stores. The plurality of faces comprising the hollow receiving tube are preferably of a convex shape for enhancing retention of the preprinted material and ensuring positive engagement of the preprinted material up to and against the respective face. Included within the base region is a printed material retention lip which extends into and partially occludes the essentially open proximal end of the hollow receiving tube. The base region is designed to allow the display apparatus to remain stable when set upon a flat horizontal surface and may optionally include additional fitments to allow for attachment of the display apparatus to surfaces not of a flat horizontal orientation. The base region may further include means for producing light or sound so as to enhance the attractive attention value of the display apparatus.

摘要： A transducer for use in surface ship applications includes a prestress element for providing additional compressive force to an electromechanical driver disposed within the transducer. The transducer includes a shell having inner portions, an electromechanical driver having end portions coupled to inner portions of the shell, and a block prestress element disposed between one of the end portions of the driver and the inner portions of the shell. The block prestress element is fabricated from a shape memory alloy which can be deformed within a first temperature range and reverts back to its original shape when exposed to a temperature above the first temperature range. This characteristic provides for the generation of additional stresses which may be desired for providing protection to the electromechanical driver from unwanted tensile forces. This approach for providing additional compressive force to the driver allows the insertion of the stacked ceramic electromechanical driver within the shell with prestress levels generally not achievable without possible damage to the shell.

摘要： Intervals between zero crossings of tone signals on two incoming lines are measured by a clock driven, free running binary counter common to the two lines and by an overflow counter individual to each line. The overflow counter is reset by the reception of the zero crossing of the tone signal and is then advanced by each overflow and recycle of the common counter. The common count number, produced when the zero crossing at the start of the interval is received, is processed with the common count number and the overflow number, produced when the zero crossing at the end of the interval is received, to calculate the duration of the interval and thereby determine the frequency of the tone.
