    • A full-color image forming apparatus having a photo-conductive belt on which mono-color toner images are respectively formed, an intermediate transfer belt onto which the mono-color toner images are respectively transferred to form a full-color toner image, and a transfer member for transferring the full-color toner image onto a copy sheet. The intermediate transfer belt includes timing marks printed thereon which are detected by a sensor to generate an image forming start signal for each of the first mono-color toner image forming processes. The start signal is generated by a controller only when cleaning of the intermediate transfer belt has completed and the cleaning blade has left therefrom. A timer may be used to delay the starting of the first mono-color image forming process until the transfer belt returns to a normal operating speed after the cleaning blade is removed from the transfer belt.

    • A printing machine having a structure for detachably supporting a cassette housing therein a type wheel is provided. The structure includes a cassette holder which may be pivoted between an operative position where printing may be carried out and an inoperative position where no printing is effected but the cassette may be replaced by another. The structure also includes a motor supporting member for supporting thereon a selection motor which may be engaged with or disengaged from the type wheel, wherein the motor supporting member is also pivoted to the cassette holder in a depending manner and moves between two positions in association with the pivotal movement of the cassette holder. Also provided is a guiding mechanism for guiding the movement of the motor supporting member thereby insuring that the motor is brought into engagement with the type wheel when located at the operative position and the motor is disengaged from the type wheel when located at the inoperative position. In accordance with another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a cassette for housing therein a type wheel, which is provided with ribs for guiding the advancement of an ink ribbon. In accordance with a further aspect of the present invention, there is provided a cassette for housing therein a type wheel, which is provided with a printing window which is located as shifted sideways with respect to a vertical center line passing through a rotating center of the type wheel.

    • Resilient tongues project from a central hub and carry two or more type members. The hub is rotated to a position in which the tongue carrying the desired type member is in a printing position facing a paper supporting platen. The hub is then shifted along the axis of the selected tongue so that the required type member is in a printing position. A drive motor for rotating the hub is connected to the hub by a universal joint to compensate for the shifting of the hub. The universal joint comprises a biased presser member to eliminate lost motion in the rotational direction. A stopper member is provided so that the bending characteristics of the selected tongue are the same no matter which type member is selected. A hammer drives the type member against the paper to print. The resilient tongues are formed of a thermoplastic resin mixed with glass or carbon fibers and the type members may be formed separately from the tongues, fixed thereto and plated with metal. The hub may be formed in two or more sections, with each section carrying some of the resilient tongues. The tongues are bent in such a manner that all of the type members lie in a common plane. The angles between the type members and the tongues are selected in such a manner that all of the type members strike the paper perpendicular to the platen.

A range in which an angle of a restricting member upstream side central angle α, which is a central angle of the surface of a developing roller on the upstream side of a restricting member opposing position opposing a developer amount restricting member in a surface motion direction of the developing roller, is not less than 0° and not more than 60° is set as a low magnetic flux density area γ in which the maximum value of a normal direction magnetic flux density on the surface of the developing roller is not more than 30 mT.
