摘要： This invention relates to a universal brake system (UBS) that combines features from an adjustable wheel traction system (WTS) and an improved anti-lock brake (ABS) system. The WTS provides a plurality of extendable and retractable spikes contained in a wheel assembly or wheel adapter to increase traction (friction) between a vehicle's wheel and its supporting surface. To further improve wheel traction each wheel spike has different types of changeable heads for different types of terrain and road surfaces. When operating in dry road mode, the UBS operates as an anti-lock braking system except the spikes can operate during emergency braking to provide additional traction between the tire and wheel support surface. When operating in slippery road mode, the UBS activates the WTS for increase traction control and utilize an improved computer controlled anti-lock braking system to alternate between wheel lock and anti-lock brake with skid control to provide the ultimate solution to decreasing a vehicle's stopping distance and controlling a vehicle's skid on slippery and dry road surfaces.

A brake ECU controls the braking force applied to wheels. A hybrid ECU controls the brake ECU so that braking force is applied to the wheels at the time of startup of the engine if while the vehicle is stopped, the vehicle run position is not selected as a shift position of the transmission. This restrains vibration of the vehicle at the time of startup of the engine.

摘要： A device for estimating side slide velocity of a vehicle, comprising: a component for detecting longitudinal velocity of the vehicle body; a component for detecting yaw rate of the vehicle body about its center of gravity; a component for detecting lateral acceleration of the vehicle body at the center of gravity; and a component for integrating on time basis difference between the lateral acceleration detected by the lateral acceleration detection component and product of the yaw rate detected by the yaw rate detection component and the longitudinal velocity detected by the longitudinal velocity detection component such that only high frequency components thereof are integrated to produce a side slide velocity signal. The device may further comprise a component for estimating slip angle of at least either the front wheels or the rear wheels and converting the estimated slip angle into side slide velocity of the vehicle body at its center of gravity to produce a side slide velocity signal; and a component for summing the side slide velocity signal produced by the integration component and the side slide velocity signal produced by the slip angle estimation and conversion component to produce a final side slide velocity signal.

摘要： A system for simulating wet runway conditions by using a liquid container that is placed inside an aircraft. The liquid container is connected to a nozzle that sprays water in front of the wheels of the aircraft. A valve is used to control the flow of water from the nozzle. Systems, such as the braking system of the aircraft, can then be tested in wet runway conditions simulated by the system. The amount of water sprayed from the nozzle can also be electronically controlled in relation to the speed of the aircraft, such that the nozzle sprays a nearly uniform layer of liquid in front of the wheels. The system can also be modified to include two tanks to manipulate the center of gravity of the aircraft.
