摘要： An improved liner and method is taught for use in protecting a wearer's skin from moisture retention when worn with prosthetic devices and other substantially non-breathable shells. The liner is form fitted to attach to a wearer without bunching or other pressure points which can cause skin irritation. Preferably, the liner comprises a membrane of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene coated on its interior surface with a polyurethane material to aid in moisture isolation and to protect the liner from compromise due to oils and other contaminants found in perspiration. The liner is effective at shielding a wearer's skin from moisture even when worn with no separate absorbent layer.

摘要： A flexible, breathable, non-linting, composite is provided. The laminate comprises a middle layer of a padding and a top and bottom layer comprising a sheet of porous water impermeable, moisture-vapor-permeable film bonded to the middle layer. Preferably the top and bottom layers comprise (a) a flexible, first sheet of hydrophobic material having a moisture vapor transmission rate exceeding 1000 gms./m.sup.2 .multidot.day; and (b) a continuous hydrophilic sheet attached to or penetrating the first sheet, the hydrophilic sheet having a moisture vapor transmission rate exceeding 1000 gms./m.sup.2 .multidot.day and forming a barrier to passage of fluids. The composite is useful in diverse applications such as a padding under orthopedic casts and as thermal insulation in wearing apparel.

Because the extra trigger finger receiving stall of the outer layer has no thick insulating inner layer therein, the trigger finger, when situated therein, can manipulate the trigger. Thus, the hand covering need not be removed to use the firearm. A waterproof, vapor permeable thin membrane intermediate layer may be provided.
