A remote controller for the television system includes a plurality of theme keys, each theme key corresponding to one theme of a plurality of themes, apparatus for entering channel indicators corresponding to each theme, apparatus for storing the entered channel indicators corresponding to each theme, apparatus for accessing and transmitting to the television system each channel indicator corresponding to a first theme of the plurality of themes in sequence to control channel selection for the television system, if a first theme key corresponding to the first theme is pressed, apparatus for pausing a set period of time after accessing and transmitting a channel indicator before continuing to access and transmit channel indicators corresponding to the first theme in sequence, and apparatus for stopping the apparatus for accessing and transmitting from accessing and transmitting each channel indicator corresponding to a first theme of the plurality of themes in sequence, if the first theme key is pressed again.

摘要： A remote control device for an electronic appliance includes a plurality of channel number inputting keys for inputting a channel number and a further key different from the plurality of channel number inputting keys. When the further key was operated, a CPU determines whether any one of the plurality of channel number inputting keys was operated directly before the further key was operated. If so, the CPU sends the electronic appliance a first remote control code related to channel selection. If not, the CPU sends the electronic appliance a second remote control code which controls a function different from the channel selection. In this case, the sole key fulfills the two functions to reduce the number of keys.

摘要： An intuitive graphical user interface is based upon a geographic map structure, and includes a system for controlling remote external electronic devices. In the defined graphical user interface, each space of the geographic map structure is rendered on a touch screen display as a graphic image of a geographic space. Within each space are colored cartoon-like icons called nullobjectsnull which can be selected and manipulated by the user. Certain objects, referred to as portals, transport the user from one space to another space when Selected. Other objects, referred to as buttons, perform associated actions or functions when Selected. The graphical user interface is displayed on a hand-held display device used to control remote devices. Each remote electronic device transmits a user interface program object that defines a graphical user interface to the display device. The hand-held display devices displays the graphical user interface associated with the remote device when a user selects an icon associated with the remote device on the display device's touch screen display.
