    • Self-locking nuts help prevent the nut from backing off of a spindle or other type of threaded shaft. A single piece nut assembly is provided that is self-locking and comprises a nut subassembly and a washer subassembly. Nut and washer subassemblies are secured together, and do not require any special tools for installation or removal. The washer has an edge which is formed/rolled over a lip extending from the bottom edge of the nut when assembled to provide the unitized assembly. The nut and washer are held apart by a spring, such as a wave spring, until the washer contacts the face of the object to which the nut is being secured. At this point the spring is compressed to engage the nut with the washer, and engage holding elements located in the nut with a holding feature located on the washer and prevent movement between the washer and nut.

    • An object of the present invention is to provide a duplex threaded body having a right-handed thread and a left-handed thread on the circumferential surface of a single solid member. In addition, an object of the present invention is to provide a single-nut or double-nut type internally-threaded body that demonstrates a locking effect even at an intermediate position without substantially loosening by using a combination of a duplex externally-threaded body and one or more internally-threaded bodies. Moreover, an object of the present invention is to provide a screw structure in which a pair of internally-threaded bodies can only be removed by destruction once they are mutually coupled when screwed onto a duplex externally-threaded body, thereby making it possible to impart tamper-proof characteristics in addition to a locking effect. The duplex externally-threaded body of the present invention has, on the outer circumferential surface of a rod-like member, an overlapping region in which a clockwise spiral right-handed thread and a counter-clockwise spiral left-handed thread are provided in at least an overlapping manner. Moreover, the present invention makes it possible to use, alone or in combination, a right-handed internally-threaded body in which a right-handed thread is formed, and a left-handed internally-threaded body in which a left-handed thread is formed, that are screwed onto a duplex externally-threaded body.

    • A self-tensioning, disc spring assembly is provided. The assembly has a circular disc spring with an outer diameter and an inner diameter defining a center hole. In addition a method of fastening a rim to a hub is also provided. The method has the steps of: positioning the rim on the hub so that the at least one lug bolt passes through the at least one mounting hole of the rim; providing a tensioning disc spring assembly on the at least one lug bolt; screwing a nut onto the at least one lug bolt to a preselected torque so that the disc spring flattens when a preselected torque amount is achieved.
