    • A system to encourage on time payments includes electronic apparatus coupled to a critical system of certain equipment. For example, the starter system of an automobile. Apparatus includes a mechanism whereby a user-operator is able to enter a command. Entry of a command serves as an indication that a payment has been made and enables further use of the equipment. On failure to timely make payments, a user is prevented from using the equipment as the apparatus is arranged to disable the equipment by way of the critical system to which it is coupled. Both a user-operator interface and critical system interruption circuit are coupled to a logic processor which is easily mounted onto equipment subject to the program. The use of a gateway system is also disclosed.

    • A system, method, and apparatus for disabling and/or enabling a vehicle. In one embodiment, the invention can be a method for disabling and/or enabling a vehicle, the method comprising: receiving, with an electronic apparatus, a disable starter command, the electronic apparatus operably coupled to a starter circuit of the vehicle to enable and/or disable the starter circuit; the electronic apparatus disabling the starter circuit of the vehicle in response to the disable starter command; the electronic apparatus sending a test signal via a wireless network to a remote server when the vehicle is in a parked state and the starter circuit is disabled; and upon the electronic apparatus determining that the test signal was not successfully sent to the remote server, the electronic apparatus enabling the starter circuit of the vehicle.

    • An automobile control device includes a function that can control drive torque of a starting device to an arbitrary value, and a positive rotation detecting unit having at least one of a function to detect whether an engine rotates positively and a function to detect whether the engine does not rotate reversely. The control device also has an idle stop function to increase the drive torque of the starting device when the positive rotation detecting unit detects that the engine rotates positively or does not rotate reversely. Accordingly, problems of malfunctions such as a reduction in a system voltage, abnormal wear of a brush in a starter motor, and breakage of a semiconductor switch are solved that are found in a conventional automobile control device having the idle stop function and that are caused by flowing of overcurrent when a starter is driven during swing-over that occurs immediately before engine stop.

    • A protection device for preventing automobile engines from abnormal starts comprises automobile batteries (10), a start motor (20) and a control circuit (30) disposed therebetween. The control circuit (30) comprises a main control unit MCU1, a start switch (31), a start relay (321) and a power supply relay (322), the coil of the start relay (321) being connected to the automobile batteries (10) through the normally closed contact of the power supply relay (322). The start relay in the present invention is connected to the batteries rather than directly but through the normally closed contact of the power supply relay. In addition to being controlled by the main control unit, the start relay is also controlled by the power supply relay, thereby providing additional insurance and more effective protection so as to avoid the damage of the start motor due to erroneous actions.
