    • An apparatus and method for lifting and transporting exercise equipment features use of a winch movably supported on a header spanning between a pair of wheeled side frames for adjustment of the winch position in two dimensions to account for varying center of gravity locations on different pieces of equipment to be lifted. The apparatus is rolled into a position straddling the equipment for lifting of same, at which time supports are laid across the space between the side frames for lowering of the equipment onto the supports for stable seated transport of the equipment on the supports by rolling of the wheeled apparatus. A single service technician can easily and safely remove a piece of equipment from the exercise floor to avoid disruption or hazard to gym members.

    • Portable vehicular hoist systems include a truss assembly having a joist member with forward and rearward ends, a pair of rafter members each having upper and lower ends, and a forward connection assembly for connecting the upper ends of the rafter members to the forward end of the joist member to allow for relative pivotal articulated movements therebetween. The rafter members may thus be pivotally moved between a stowed condition wherein the rafter members are oriented generally parallel to the joist member and an operative position wherein the rafter members extend downwardly and laterally outwardly from the joist member. A hoist assembly may be provided so as to be connectable to the joist member of the truss assembly to be supported thereby. The rearward end of the joist member and the lower ends of the rafter members may be removably attached to respective connection lugs rigidly fixed to a vehicle's structure, e.g., an aircraft fuselage at an opening therein.

    • The disclosure involves a material handling machine such as a lattice-type portal crane having an elongate lattice girder suspended from a girder beam by a first and second support links. In turn, the girder beam is supported at an elevation by a pair of legs. The improvement comprises a force transfer link coupling the support links so that forces transferred between the girder beam and either leg are isolated from the girder. The girder, which is triangular-shaped, has a top apex-like chord member and a pair of lower chord members. The support links and the force transfer link support the girder at the lower chord members and the top chord member is spaced (and therefore, isolated) from the girder beam.

    • An apparatus and method for stabilizing a gantry. Powerful springs in the apparatus allow small deviations from a perpendicular configuration of a boom and beam arrangement. The springs resist larger deviations, thereby increasing the structural integrity and safety of the apparatus and method. The method stabilizes the gantry by providing a progressively increasing restoring force as the boom and beam travel farther from a starting position corresponding to a perpendicular relationship between the boom and the beam.
