    • A closure for a dropper bottle includes a nozzle having a neck and a shoulder. The neck includes an aperture at an end thereof for dropwise dispensing of a liquid, and the shoulder includes an outstanding circumferential ring and threads disposed between the ring and the neck. A cap is provided with a top and an axially downwardly extending skirt. The top has a seat for sealably engaging the aperture, and the skirt has internal grooves for engaging the nozzle threads and an internal circumferential lip for sealably engaging the ring. The lip is spaced apart from the aperture for enabling simultaneous sealing of the aperture and the ring upon rotation of said cap onto said nozzle.

    • A plastic closure for sealing a container, the closure having a top portion and a skirt portion depending from the top portion. The closure has an annular sealing rib which extends within the cavity defined by the top portion and the skirt portion.     • A one-piece plastics closure for a carbonated beverage bottle has a sealing ring which extends inwardly and downardly towards the closure mouth from its attachment to the closure body. When the closure is fitted the ring extends around the outer radius and over the annular top face of the bottle neck, backed by a stepless abutment and reaction surface of the closure body. The latter surface engages the sealing ring mechanically above the container top face to determine the fitted position of the closure and create a seal when the pressure in the bottle is low. When the product pressure is high, however, the effective seal is made between the sealing ring and the outer radius of the bottle neck. For that purpose the abutment and reaction surface is roughened, so allowing access for the product pressure to the back of the sealing ring.

    • A closure including a standard threaded cap having a tamper indicating band depending from the cap skirt by frangible webs. The tamper indicating band has an inwardly directed bead which cooperates with a flange on the container neck which allows the band to rotate with the cap but prevents the band from being removed past the container flange. Alternatively the tamper indicating band contains spaced ratchet teeth which engage ratchet teeth on the container neck to prevent further rotation. A rotary seal is provided between the cap and container neck which is effective for an axial length A greater than the sum of a distance B between the cap bead and the container flange when the cap is tightened or the axial movement of the cap in rotating the ratchet teeth into contact and the distance C which the frangible webs stretch before fracture. Thus the rotary seal prevents access to the product prior to breaking the tamper indicating band loose from the cap.

    • A plastic closure for a container, such as a bottle having an externally threaded neck, has a top wall, an internally threaded sidewall, and a seal comprising outer and inner concentric sealing members that extend downwardly from an inner surface of the top wall. The outer sealing member extends downwardly farther than the inner sealing member and is substantially thicker than the inner sealing member. The outer sealing member is disposed to engage an outer corner of the rim of the neck of the bottle when the closure is threaded onto the bottle, and the inner sealing member is disposed to engage the top of the rim after engagement of the corner with the outer sealing member. The outer sealing member deflects outward slightly, and the inner sealing member deflects upwardly and inwardly. Movement of the top wall of the closure toward the rim is limited by a shoulder between the sealing members, so that when the closure is fully threaded onto the bottle, the inner sealing member is spaced from the inner surface of the top wall of the closure.
