摘要： The invention relates to a method for treating a liquid. A feed stream is separated into a permeate stream and a retentate stream by means of a member arrangement. At least a portion of the retentate stream is discharged from the member arrangement via a displacer arrangement as a defined displacer volume. The feed stream is divided into a portion that is fed into the membrane arrangement via a displacer arrangement as a defined displacer volume and into a portion that is fed to the membrane arrangement by means of a conveying unit. The yield is varied by changing the ratio of the speed of the conveying unit to the speed of the displacer arrangement.

摘要： A method and system for collecting a double volume of red blood cells using a spinning membrane separator is provided by which a first quantity of whole blood is withdrawn from a donor; a first quantity of whole blood is flowed to the spinning membrane separator; where it is separated into a first quantity of red blood cells and a first quantity of plasma. The first quantity of red blood cells and the first quantity of plasma are then flowed to respective collection containers, and at least a portion of the first quantity of plasma is returned to the donor. A second quantity of whole blood withdrawn from the donor, and then separated into a second quantity of red blood cells and a second quantity of plasma using the spinning membrane separator. The second quantity of red blood cells and the second quantity of plasma are then flowed to the respective collection containers, and at least a portion of the second quantity of plasma is returned to the donor.

摘要： A drainless reverse osmosis (RO) water purification system provides relatively pure water for on-demand dispensing, while recycling brine to a domestic hot water system. The drainless purification system includes a pre-filter catalyst cartridge for removing chlorine-based contaminants from a tap water supply upstream from an RO membrane. The catalyst is regularly refreshed by a high through-flow of water to a conventional cold water dispense faucet, thereby significantly prolonging the service life of the RO membrane. The RO membrane is incorporated into a multi-cartridge unit adapted for facilitated slide-out removal and replacement as needed. A control valve recycles brine from the RO membrane to the hot water system during pure water production, and recirculates tap water through the RO membrane when a pure water reservoir is substantially filled. The multi-cartridge unit may further include an air filtration system for providing a flow of filtered air.

摘要： The invention provides a liquid treatment apparatus such as a reverse osmosis apparatus wherein a portion of an inlet liquid permeates through a filter or a membrane e.g. to provide freshwater from saltwater. The apparatus comprises a pump which provides the necessary pressure of the liquid to drive the permeation process, and a recovery unit which transfers pressure of a residue quid to the inlet liquid. The pump and the recovery unit are driven at synchronous and variable speed to control the output and thereby e.g. to adjust for fouling of the filter or membrane. The invention further provides methods of controlling the synchronous speed, e.g. based on a pressure or based on the consumption of the produced liquid.

The filtration method of the invention comprises performing a preliminary filtration of a feed water with first and second submerged-type filtration membrane modules; pressurizing an initial filtrate produced through the preliminary filtration with a pressure higher than an osmotic pressure of the feed water; filtering the pressurized initial filtrate with a reverse osmosis membrane module; interrupting the first submerged-type filtration membrane module performing the preliminary filtration; and backwashing the first submerged-type filtration membrane module caused to stop performing the preliminary filtration, wherein the preliminary filtration with the second submerged-type filtration membrane module is continuously performed while the first submerged-type filtration membrane module is backwashed.
