    • An educational entertainment device includes at least one cube formed from (a) a regular tetrahedron and (b) four 1/8th sections of a regular octahedron wherein the faces of the tetrahedron and the faces of the octahedron are all congruent. The 1/8th sections are formed by slicing the octahedron through three orthogonal planes, each slicing plane passing through four vertices of the octahedron, each 1/8th section being defined by (a) one octahedron face and (b) three mutually orthogonal corner faces. By coupling the octahedron face of each of the four 1/8th sections to a corresponding one of the tetrahedron faces in edge-to-edge fashion, one cube is formed. Each side of the cube includes two corner faces, one from each of two 1/8th sections. By rotating a 1/8th section about an axis perpendicular to the plane interfacing the 1/8th section and the tetrahedron, the two corner faces forming a cube side can be altered. A plurality of n.sup.3, e.g. eight, cubes can form a block of cubes, in an n.times.n.times.n arrangement of cubes. Indicia may be applied to the corner faces of the cubes so that each face of the block has prescribed indicia thereon when (a) all of the 1/8th sections on each cube are rotated in a prescribed fashion and (b) the cubes are arranged relative to each other in a predefined manner. The block, in addition to entertainment use, can be used to show seven planes in space and the nature of the tetrahedron and octahedron as basic structures.

    • An educational toy and method for demonstrating characteristics of a latticework of spacepoints including demonstrating (a) the commonality of latticework between tetrahedron configuration latticework and octahedron configuration latticework, (b) that octahedron latticework merges with tetrahedron latticework, (c) the 13-plane structure of the common latticework, (d) how simultaneous twinning in more than one of the 13 planes can form multitudes of combinations of domains of tetrahedrons and octahedrons, and (e) the altering of latticework by appropriately selecting the dimensions of structure members that define spacepoints in the latticework. Preferably, the structure members are similarly dimensioned and oriented ellipsoidal elements which are gravity stacked and optionally connectable and wherein the centerpoint of each ellipsoidal element represents a spacepoint in the latticework. With ellipsoidal elements, the latticework structure is determined by the relative lengths of the three orthogonal axes of symmetry of the ellipsoidal elements when the common axis and the location of either orientation mark are known.

    • This invention relates to an orthopedic device designed to retain the fingers of a paralyzed hand in a relaxed and normal position while at the same time providing accessory means to permit the paralytic patient to utilize this device for other utilitarian purposes. The device comprises a contoured supporting member over which the palm and fingers of a hand may be positioned and retained in a comfortable and relaxed position. Specific accessory means are provided which can be detachably associated with said supporting member for the purpose of facilitating reading, card playing and similar uses together with easily detached means for firmly attaching said member to a flat surface.
